I was hoping to go. Waiting on Ford to fix my truck again and can't pick up my RZR without it. Might be broke after this repair.

#32 Re: The X Spot » Has anyone heard anything about this? » 2011-06-05 22:39:12

Some guys i know used to race for kymco, and they say the kymco uxv 500  side x side is a good trail runner, but not a good racer, and that they are priced really well. That i can believe, but has anyone heard anything else about the reliability, or parts availability? We have a big honda dealer about an hour from here that sells them, but i'd like to have some more input befor i deal with a sales man's line of bull. Dirt tracks tv show liked it, and the honda dealer has them for $6799 brand new, but i'm really not sure, all i need is something that isn't bigger than my ford explorer lol , that i can take on trail rides, and do some yard work, or haul a deer out with. I know it's not one of the big brands, but i'm still against spending $10,000 or more on something thats going to spend all it's time in the trees, dirt, and mud. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Is reliability important? I don't know of any dealers here in Utah that have parts for the kymco machines. The Polaris, yamaha can almost be repaired quickly but do cost slightly more. Shop around for used machines that has extended warranties that can be transferred then you will also have peace of mind too.

Big welcome as well!
You have a great Area to ride in. Marysvale just south of I-70 and about 25 miles east of I-15, heart of the Paiute trail. You won't see much until late this year due to snow depths. Look at www.marysvale.org for more info. It is my favorite place and Moab a close second.

Hi Fasttrax:

Thanks for the info, we have been up there twice for their UTV Jam in Aug. Its definately a beautiful place to ride. We need to try the areas on the other side of the I70 out of Richfield, we havent been on the northern side yet.

The Richfield to Fillmore ride is fun in the fall or when you can get over the top. I did it once in July and it was a little to toasty. Marysvale currently is either flooded or limited to travel due to snow, not a whole lot of riding.

#35 Re: The X Spot » Harbor Freight Tools Review System and Northern Tools Review » 2011-05-26 21:12:12

I will say that harbor freight is good on tools that you don't use constantly. My bandsaw works great, the blade wasn't worth crap, compressors has been better than cambell hausfelds, along with their nailers and other tools. I am in the woodworking field and use clamps that I bend or strip and they replace them. Trail tools are great since you loose them and no hard feelings, my craftsman tools I would throw a fit about.
I have bought a lot from grizzly tools over the years, northern is real close to the same. I would put most side x side with American tools unless it has a motor. All the china stuff is so overrated when you look at RPMs and amp ratings.

It's just very sad that our technology has came down to foreign products.  The machinists and craftsmen are gone replaced with a programmer and a machine operator.

#36 Re: Where to Ride? » Are the a lot width restrictions on ATV trails in Utah? » 2011-05-17 18:56:07

Does the forest service and/or BLM impose width restrictions on ATV type trails? I’m curious if the RZR allows you to legally access a lot more trails.

Most areas allow the 50" RZR but more are now posting a "no side x side" on them too. I have had a rhino and a rzr4 and still have seen only minimal limits in most areas. Paiute has a few 50" only trails.

Check the fuel lines behind the seat, sounds like you are possibly getting air in the "loop" or vacuum issue. Try blowing (yes, by mouth) in the line that provides air into the fuel tank and see if it starts.

#40 Re: Events, Rallies, & Races » Rally on the Rocks » 2011-05-05 14:19:28

Its just a ROTR thread... lol

I've heard problems with all of them, neighbors Duramax overheats when towing, other neighbor bent his new Dodge flatbed frame in half. Dodge would be a consideration considering it is a true deisel engine. Fords best decision in the past twelve years was to build their own engine now, too bad all the emission BS has to be added too. Anyway my truck is almost rebuilt except for injectors now...off to the rally. big_smile

Its a 2005 F350 & The edge programmer is gone. I have had the head gaskets and bolts replaced, 2 egr and oiler coolers, and some sensors and egr valves. No fuel injectors yet maybe because I believe in new fuel filters often.
Latest was a runaway, but they tied it to the acceleration control (gas pedal assembly) and now also diagnosed with a FICM for another 900.00, the 50k truck is pushing 60k now, and less than 53,000 miles.

#42 Re: Events, Rallies, & Races » Rally on the Rocks » 2011-05-04 12:07:29

Mine should be about rebuilt now. No fuel injectors yet but that'll be next. You know it's not a good sign when the service manager tells you the best thing to do is get out of it. Ford bought back 5-600 of the first 6.0 before International threw up their arms about it. If Ford doesn't help anymore than I am going to a neighbor who is a deisel machanic from here out to "bulletproof" it. I don't have 65k for a new one.

#43 Re: Events, Rallies, & Races » Rally on the Rocks » 2011-05-04 07:08:54

My battle with Ford is almost over, thanks to the dealer itself. I have the main repair done but I am fighting for some other issues that have been mentioned by them now. I don't see a problem with getting down there currently, other than playing head games with Ford motor company.

Word of advice, stay completely away from any Ford with the 6.0, unless you want to buy mine first of course! lol

I knew I needed to get a haircut and a makeover. Should I go get matching riding gear to match my RZR4 colors? lol
