Re: sidexside info

Ok so I was thinking today about all the people that come on here to ask what side x side they should buy. I was thinking of starting a thread like everything you need to know about side x sides and if a bunch of people would just post what they have for a side x side any problems they have had mods they have done what they like about it what they dislike about it stuff like that maybe a few pictures. Dont say what they hate about other side x sides or what one they think is better or what you have heard from other people, just keep it to what you own and know first hand, in other words no bashing or bad mouthing other machines.  This will give new owners or people looking to buy a non bias opinion.

This way when someone askes that age old question on what to buy they can be sent to a thread full of info.

Is this a good idea or bad idea and will everyone post on it?

Re: sidexside info

I think something should be done. I am starting to go a little crazy with people asking the same questions over and over without doing a search for the answer when it is already there. I do not want to ignore them because they took the time to post a question but at the same time i have answered the same question 5 times before. Also i would like to see a thread in the Polaris section on basic know how for service and repair questions that don't fall to the bottom where no one can find them and also add a few more moderators to watch the site. I personally think we can use a little face lift on the site. I try to keep up on the Polaris tech support the best i can but i can not do much on the others do to the lack of hands on with them. The one main thing that people come to these sites is to ask a question and if know one answers they move on to a site that has the answers. That is why the PRC site has over 10.000 members   :?: .

Re: sidexside info

What if i started a separate site/page that was dedicated to UTV reviews? Would you guys contribute your thoughts and opinions? It would not be a forum, more like a Q&A along with peoples opinions. A dedicated page for each UTV and the available mods. Then we could just paste a link as a response saying "Here's a good starting point to answer the basic questions". I'm thinking there could be sections for each UTV and then another section for mods, etc. At the bottom of each review would be a link back to side x side forum so the person can easily come back and ask more specific questions once they've had a chance to read the basics.

The forum is the best place for communicating the finer details  but I agree the same "Whats the best UTV" question gets asked quit a bit :-)

Let me know what you guys think.

Re: sidexside info

I would only suggest that negitive remarks be removeable unless they are helpfull in some way. Like (Rhino has a small rear bed) or else you will be getting things from people who hate the sport and call side x sides nothing but death traps. people who will remain nameless (Johnsands) every side x side has some sort of down side and they can be talked about in a civilized manner. and no talking shit about other brands.  lol  roll

Re: sidexside info

Yup, I agree we don't want the Q&A to turn into a UTV bash session.  I'll look at either policing the site or simply require all posts be approved by an admin before they go live on the site.

Re: sidexside info

I was thinking again  roll  for the number of great videos that are posted on here there should be some sort of video gallery.
So many of them get lost in old posts they are hard to find.

Re: sidexside info

Titan, stop making more work for me  big_smile  just kidding! another good idea for sure. I'll see about scrapping all the video links from the forum and build a separate page to display them all in one spot. Should be pretty easy to do actually.

Regarding the UTV Review site. I finally finished it up this past weekend... I didn't want to post the link until I had a few more reviews listed on the site. I still have to get the Rhino reviews listed, i know, i know... wink

Take a minute to check it out. If you're the owner of one of the UTVs already listed please add your comments, etc. of what you think of your ride. Also, if you have any suggestions for the new UTV Review site post  em here and I'll see what I can do.

Here's the link:

UTV Reviews - Polaris Ranger Reviews, Yamaha Rhino Reviews, Kawasaki Teryx Reviews and more!

Heck, even if you don't own one of the UTV's but you have some advise or something to say about a particular vehicle please post your comments in the  Reviews section found at the bottom of each review. Most of you are experts in the realm of UTVs by now from reading all the info here Side X Side Forum smile
