Re: Street legal in UTAH... finally?

Thanks for the info. I have another question:

Once they are licenced "street legal" we no longer need to register them as OHV, correct? Does being street legal limit use of any off highway trails or roads in any way?

Re: Street legal in UTAH... finally?

Being street legal will not limit any other use.

The OHV registration you pay now is simply a tax to support OHV trails etc.
I am certain that none of the money from your street legal taxes/fees will go to trails.

Don't know if you will be required to have both, I'll ask.

If you don't pay OHV fees our trails and facilities will go to waste. Without funding the opposition could step in and force them closed easily in my opinion.

Re: Street legal in UTAH... finally?

Redman,

I live in Highland in Utah county.  It is over 7500 people so that means UTVs won't be street legal here.  correct?  Can cities decide on their own or if they are over 7500 people are they automatically not street legal.

each city can determine their own laws, Cedar city, which is about 35-40000 people has a street legal law for all OHVs

Re: Street legal in UTAH... finally?

Any city of 7500 or more is automatically closed.

-You CAN cross any road closed to OHVs at a right angle.
-You CAN use any road closed to OHVs in an emergency.
-You CAN load and unload your OHV on a closed road.
-You CAN ride on a closed road if directed by the Police or other public authority.

Local authorities in cities of less than 7500 CANNOT close roads to street legal OHVs.

Local authorities CAN allow access to NON-street legal OHVs and/OR restrict them to certain routes AND require that you keep and eye on younger riders.

Local authorities CAN  allow access to Streel legal OHVs even if they are over 7500.

Just because they CAN does not mean they will.  If you live in a city over 7500 it is up to you to campaign to get it approved at the local level.  So get to work.

The only easy answer is to ask someone local if you are allowed to ride your street legal rig on the all streets.

Those signals are bright and small so they can be placed anywhere
you want.  Really slick.  Coming to a dealer near you soon.

Oh and the horn is 135db!!  They will know you are serious when you
give em a blast.

Re: Street legal in UTAH... finally?

Yes it is starting to look suspiciously like the Utah Dept of public safety will not be ready with the safety inspection manuals and even if it is ready none of the inspectors will be certified for OHVs before Oct 1.

Bulldog has a great kit ready to ship and cannot get anyone to answer from the UDPS.
