Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

I am so excited, i can't keep it to myself!

We are finally going to have a UTV Race Car in the Lucas Oil Off Road Series this weekend at Speedworld in AZ!

LSR and TMW Offroad teamed up at the last minute to finish a short course car in the last few days. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!  We will be bolting on the shocks friday before practice!

I have been hard at work the last few days crunching the numbers on our new Teryx XTR Race Specific suspension system featuring front and rear towers for extra long shocks, lower leverage ratios, and ideal shock geometery for the ultimate in racing performance.  The best part is, if you already own our XTR kit, this will be available as a bolt on upgrade in the coming weeks, or you can fab up your own mounts depending on your needs.  It features 15.5" of true wheel travel front and rear, using a 10" stroke shock on the back, and a 8.5" stroke shock up front.

It will also feature brand new Fox RC2 B/O shocks that have a special bottom out circuit built into the top of the shock, for seemingly endless bottom out resistance!

Here are some photos I snagged as the car left our shop for some other last minute fab work.

Be sure to make it out to the LOORS race this weekend to see it in action, along with all of the other UTV's, PRO 2/4, PROLITE trucks, Superlites and Superbuggies.

I will be posting up some pictures of the car when it's finished, as well as some action shots and videos from the weekend.

You can see the original shock mount locations (stock shocks shown just to roll the car) compared to the new mounts that are placed up a lot higher!

Note, the upper shock mounts are above the fuel cell!

This new technology from Fox and LSR will offer the ultimate in performance providing an ultra smooth ride, and be able to withstand the most severe landings and g-outs just begging for more punishment!

Stay tuned for more pictures and video!

See you at the track!

Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

Looks like alot of hard work with a great pay off.
I have to ask how much is still stock and how much is new fab?
From the pics im thinking like 15% stock 85% fab.

I look out my window at a bone stock 700 Rhino with a snow plow and 3 inches of fresh snow
frozen to the seat and all of a sudden I feel sick to my stomach,  roll I need to move to the desert for winter. lol

Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

yeah.. i would say your estimate is about right as far as what is stock and what is fabbed.  The main lower parts of the chassis are all that is really left.. everything else has been changed for the most part.

Here are the results:

We got 10th and 9th.. which is pretty decent considering the car was running really hot, was underpowered, and tiped the scales at over 1600 lbs with driver.. Scotty did a great job, especially for his 1st UTV short course race in a brand new car with zero seat time. The new suspension did amazing though. Huge thanks to Jimmy, Scotty and Bobby for letting us borrow some springs to drop the car down. There wasn't a car out there that could run through the mogals like ours did. Hopefully we can make the next race and be more competitive in the engine department!

Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

Very respectable finish for new car. I see you have a Muzzy exhaust, any other engine mods? What will you do for more power?

I have an off topic (kind of) question Greg. What is your opinion of LSR +3 long travel kit. I was thinking of adding that kit to my 07' Rhino Sport - keeping the stock adjustable gas shocks (to save $).

Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

the Teryx has a muzzy's exhaust, and a full Weller race motor, but obviously not with all the tricks they do with the other guys. He was getting pulled on pretty hard in the straight aways..

The MTS kit for the rhino (+3) works very well. It adds more wheel travel and width for a smoother ride and more stability.  I was very suprised in the improvement when we were doing testing a few years back. The sport shocks work, and pretty well from what i hear. I have never tested it myself, but the longer arms will make them feel softer, so you will probably need to adjust the spring pre-load, and stiffen up the compression adjustments.

You will get the best ride and performance from aftermarket shocks like a bilstein, elka, or fox, but you will still be better than using your stock arms.

There are few guys running the a-arms and stock shocks on rhinoforums.net, you should search there to get some feedback.

I actually have a used kit with bilstein shocks that we could let go for $2700 in the condition it is now (worn down powdercoat and some scratches etc from normal use). We could powdercoat the arms and springs so it would look brand new for an extra $400 in any color if you were interested.

The customer upgraded to the XTR kit.

Thanks!

Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

Ever see or use a Rancho suspension for a Rhino? It looks well built and Rancho has been building suspensions for trucks for years so I would think that they know what they are doing.

When the funds are available I would like to do something to my Rhino.

Re: Better Late, Than Never! LSR and TMW at LOORS Race this week

Thanks Greg. I will check out the forums. I am interested in using my shocks to save $, but will consider the used setup. The Rancho setup is sweet. Bet it is pricey... do you know Titan?

Not sure on price or performance but it is a nice looking kit for sure.
