Hi Keith,
I haven't heard of any problems specific to the 06'. I have an 07' and complaints seem to be general, not specific to particular year. If you want to see some of the common problems read the threads under "General Discusion about Yamaha Rhinos". Only complaint I have had with mine is the fuel pump. Some nice changes comming in 08', but they will likely be 12k or more. I would say if the 06' SE in good shape and a good deal - buy it! With 08' comming you might find a good deal on an 07' new. In my area you can't find a good deal on a used one, and new have been full MSRP until lately. I am not an expert, just trying to give you some feedback.

#1464 Re: Rhino Parts and Accessories » Ipod - dash mount holder? » 2007-09-21 09:17:40

Thanks guys! I should have asked before I bought the damn thing. Talked to others that said it was a nice system, not super powerful but good enough and good sound. Should have talked to some rockers first  8) Got the amp yesterday, very small amp  :?  I am not looking for "killer sound" but I am having my doubts. All cables/connections seem to be well thought out - for the price I paid they should have included some shrink tube. Speaker bar was out of stock, they are supposed to have it shipped direct from manufacture. I like the idea of the speaker bar tucked up and out of the way, but we will see how it sounds - should have it in by Moab trip. Still need to buy an Ipod, but likely today. Without even hearing it I would say RMD right on the money - better sound and much cheaper.

Thanks for the feedback! I did not realize they weren't running a bolt all the way through. I will ask them to do it the same, or temp it in and I will do it myself. Their concern was having the plastic between the plate and the steel tube would somehow weaken it. If bolt doesn't run all the way through it probably would.

I ordered an amp and speaker bar for my Rhino. Amp is Ipod ready, weatherproof and wired for easy install. Anyone know of an Ipod holder/bracket? Would like to mount on the dash (below digital gauge) and next to GPS. I have not decided on an Ipod (or similar) yet because I want a decent mount. Thanks.

If interested, this is the amp I bought (should be here today, will report on install and how it sounds)

Thanks Jared. Have an appointment next Thursday at Plaza in Heber to install doors and grab handle. They said they have to do the install because of agreements with Yamaha, but are willing to work with me also. They are not comfortable mounting the latch over the plastic, but said they will sleeve the bolts behind the latch plate, or maybe install a back spacer the same size as the latch plate and only cut a hole in the plastic big enough for the spacers or back plate. They feel this will make the plate mount solid They will bend the plate to have a tight fit without rattles. Plaza not as close as Escape, but their service people are great and since I am always in Park City on business anyway, Plaza will get my business.

Maybe Escape feeling the bite of everyones bitching - they told me a few weeks ago that they have to install the way Yamaha tells them too, now changing their tune/tone.

How are you guys talking the dealer in to installing them yourself? Talked to 2 dealers and they won't budge, they have to install. I don't want them hacked in. Hook me up guys.
