You may not be able to freespool as long as you have weight on the cable. When I would plow with the rhino I would go through a contactor or silenoid a year and your experience is the same as mine. You can do a simple test by reversing the wires at the winch or contactor and see if it works opposite of how it does now. If it does it is your contactor. Reversing the black and the green/blue will not work from the switch.

Remember too that those wires will arc if they touch metal.

I love my RZR4! After having a four seat rhino and banging heads and bruising tail bones it is definetely a caddilac on the trails and whoops. I am excited to think in the next few years what you will see in four-seated UTV machines, there will be more choices available.

Although mine usually has three seats empty I don't mind the extra lenth when it comes to climbing or anything else really. There is no greater fun than taking three others with you on a amusement ride they have no control over either.

Why are you sold on a mule?  Have you looked at a rhino 450 or 660?
