I'm retiring soon to Lake Havasu, Az where I can street legal a utv for street use, but I also want to use it in the desert Obviously it will need bigger tires and rims and something that will hold up on the street as well as the sand. My concern is speed. I'd like to be able to do 35 or 40 on the main streets. I don't care whether it's a 2 seat or 4. Any suggestions as to the best utv. I'd like a RZR but not sure about it in the street. Thanks
The newer Rangers and RZRs will do fine at those speeds but you will need to install some kind of DOT approved tire that is all terrain along with the proper kit to register it on the street. Jarred at ruthless can tell you what you may need......
By the way, what was the cost of that soft cab you have :?: In 2005 they were not available and only the hard cab was available. It was way too pricey and still may consider the soft cab as long as it is cheap enough and easy to remove when needed.....
The soft top comes off and goes on pretty easily - maybe a 5 minute job tops once you know what you're doing, including mounting the doors. That's good because it isn't recommended for trailering at high speeds. I'll give you the full price and dealer discounted price I paid for each part. I'm in Alaska, so you might be able to beat these in the "Lower 48". This kit fits the 400/500/EV.
Item #.................Description.........Price....Discounted
PO2877854-067....Soft Top/Back.....310.79 264.17
PO2877855-067....Doors, Canvas....388.49 330.22
TOTAL...........................................699.28 594.39I also used the plexi-glass full windshield, PO2877707, 310.79 / 264.17, so the full enclosure ran 858.56.
It isn't a perfect seal at the bottom corner of the doors, but all around excellent fit. The doors latch magnetically and the windows zip down for ventilation when needed. It does an excellent job of keeping out the rain and holding in the heat when it gets cold outside. I think I'm going to enjoy clearing snow this winter a lot more than I have the past 17 years up here!
Does that include the windsheild as well :?: .....
We will be looking forward to snow plow pictures when the time comes

This is a pretty simple answer. The Ranger is the one to get. Why is that. More speed. Much bigger size box and capacity. Seats three instead of two. Much heavier towing capacity. better suspension and ride quality. I think that says it all.....

We saw a few snowflakes in Eagle River today, though we're probably still a few weeks from anything that stays on the ground. The plow? Still on back-order! I haven't sold the snow-blower yet just in case!
I wish it would cool off here faster. We don't do any running around with our trailer or Polaris during the summer due to the summer heat. I think our first trip will be in early November after we get everything ready.
As for the plow, it may take longer to get to you because it is now late in season and more in demand. maybe not much that could have been done in your case but it may have been cheaper and easier to get one if you had ordered it four or five months ago  .
Now I need to do my daily job on this site and remove more useless spam and delete those users from the site. It is a never ending job here :x

do you always need chains to plow snow? and what is the best plow to get?
I have no personal experience with either yet, but I imagine that I will soon, and I'll let you know.
From what I've gathered from others the need for chains depends on a lot of things, such as whether the ground is icy before it snows, depth and weight or wetness of the snowfall, flat or hilly terrain to plow.
I understand the newest re-designed Glacier II 66-inch (Sno-glide) plow is supposed to be superior for moving a lot of snow, and is a bit lighter. This year it has been strengthened by 40% and the plow face enlarged in both height and width. Based on that you might be wary if you are looking at used Glacier or Glacier II plows, as I've read complaints from some on the forums who have bent push bars or mounts on the older Glacier systems. On the other hand, others were very satisfied with them, so I guess it's in how you use them.
That's what I've read, so now we'll see if I'm even close when the snow gets here!
+1 on all of above. The minute the snow turns to icy conditions and the total amount to be pushed will stop you in your tracks without chains. In light stuff and wet conditions they are not needed but that almost never happens that way. Family in manitoba has told me all this and I have been in enough high altitude snow conditions to know what the UTVs limitation are in regards to traction in icy thick snow conditions.....
I will also mention that running a Plow, you should always run in low range to prevent burning the belt up unless it is really thin and light stuff  ......
I personal think it is more fun being productive with the ranger then just playing around and breaking things
You will most likely need to put a few sand bags in the bed and get chains for the tires to run the plow  Welcome to the forum ![]()
My 2009 Ranger 700 overheated and seized up. Since Im rebuilding it, I decided to add a few performance mods from bikeman performance. I have a ported head, stage 1 cam, their exhaust, reflashed ECM, power commander, and shift kit. The shift kit has weights that can be added or removed to adjust shifting characteristics. Anyone used these before that can recommend where and how much weight to add? This machine has stock height tires and does mostly trail riding at around 1200 feet.
I would run that question past Bikeman since every manufacture will be a little different and also he sold the parts to you. he should have a good understanding on the proper settings  ....
Hey there, I am in the market for buying a Rzr S. There are not many around my area for sale used, and I cant afford brand new. I have found a 2009 Polaris Rzr S with 1600 miles on it. It has many expensive extras, like Pro Armour Aluminum doors, a mp3 stereo with speakers and amp. A full polaris windshield that pops on and off easily, hard top roof and back window. It also has a clutch kit in the machine and an SLP intake. I like the machine and is def. in my price range for $9800. But I am very nervous about purchasing a 09 Rzr S seeing that this is the first year of the S model. Is there any 2009 Polaris Rzr S owners out there that can give me you opinions and info on these machines ? ANYTHING will be useful and helpful. Thanks
Since no one else is going to answer your question, I will try
 . I do not think you will have any issues with your 09 RZR's. It is more hopped up then the standard one and there has not been many issues with it. The most problematic RZR models were the standard 2007 models.
I would PM Badley and see if he can give you some more input. Welcome to the forum

Looking at winches and there is so many different sizes! What size winch is needed to handle a blade for pushing snow? I have a ranger 800 xp.
2 or 3 thousand would be fine.......
where is the best place to get a set of rock sliders and half doors for a 2012 ranger 800 xp?
Try them out...
Thank You Especially for going to the extra trouble, I Do Appreciate It!!!.
Now if I can figure out how to print it....
In Windows Xp, right click and save picture. Not sure on vista because I never upgraded to it due to how bad it was
. I have Windows 7 in a box but why fix something that's not broken
. Plus I do not want to start all over again on learning a new OS till I need to
. Maybe when I build the next new computer
