Moving to Mexico to get closer to customers
, that is one stupid statement from the company executive . More American job losses due to stupid executive dumb asses and I am sure the government signed off on this as well
....
Good info and thanks for the update Titan.......
not true anymore... moving it to mexico..
OK, I give, Is your glass half empty or half full :?: Maybe I missed it but I have seen nothing on polaris moveing to mexico :?: . Do you happen to have any info on this :?: .
I know all about some of the hit and miss problems with the RZR and rangers through the years, yours is a sporadic problem with the Dana built transmission, Here is an example, It is like if your body has a Chevy truck with a 4L80E transmission and has never had a problem with it then you buy the same type of truck and then you go through 3 of the same transmissions the first 2 years you have owned it. The 2009 rangers had the heat issue and the 2007 RZR had the air intake issues. I can't say dealing direct with Polaris corp has always been good but I do know that most of there dealers seem to not be very knowledgeable or well trained. Almost all vehicles have some sort of lemon law going against it for one reason or another.
Always try to stay away from first year vehicles and vehicles built before quiting time and ones built just before a holiday or just after one
. Also don't buy one just before a UAW strike or just before a plant closing  . This will lesson the chances of a lemon or a poorly built vehicle :!:  .
I had the same issue. It ended being something inside the transmission. It may be the linkage like the others have suggested but I would get it checked out as soon as possible while you are under warranty.
I hope you have better luck getting yours fixed than I did. Mine first went in for servce on 3-15-2010. It is now in the shop for the 4th time, at the third dealer. The dealers cannot seem to fix it properly.
The gear slipping issue has been fixed, but now they cant seem to keep the detents working properly.
Good Luck,
Another dealer horror story
It is sad that the dealer can't fix such a simple transmission......
I purchased a polaris ranger in jan. it is a lot more comfortiable riding has much more ground clearance and lots of accesories and the best thing is its made in the UNITED STATES .....
X2 on that statement
.

I do need to add one thing, I do all my own work on the ranger and all my stuff as well as other peoples UTVs. I have not had to deal with the dealer on warranty issues because nothing ever went wrong with mine during that time period but I have had to deal with the dealerships in my area on parts in the past and I have to say they never stock anything and have to always order it. for that reason I do not deal with the dealerships anymore. I have had in depth conversations with there mechanics and they really don't seem very knowledgeable about the product or known issues. I think one of the reasons is all the dealers in my area also are Yamaha and Kawasaki dealers as well and there is a lack of training.
As for parts I do my own ordering on these UTVs from other sources and have them shipped to me direct. I do not use the dealerships at all anymore. This also goes for my trucks and cars as well...
I have heard of some people that have had good luck with some good dealerships and I have heard about horror stories of others but that cold happen with any product
 .
i clean up after myself and have no intentions of doing anykind of graffiti anymore than tire tracks! i just want a good riding exp. and some change in scenary. so what are the laws out there as far as camping and shooting?
There are no camping restrictions but you can not burn wood with nails in it. No glass containers are allowed also. I would not recommend going there in the summer time because I have seen 120 deg temps in the canyons unless that is what you like. As for shooting there was no laws in the past but now they have posted no shooting due to the fact that everyone brings up stuff to shoot at and then leaves it there along with all the spent shotgun shells, There has been an issue in the past that some dumbass has shot and killed cattle that was on private property and or cattle that has escaped through the fences cut by riders that cut across private property  . They will push the shooting enforcement on this during the big weekends but during the week and on lite weekends they will turn a blind eye as long as you are fare enough from the main road and other peoples camping areas, but that is up to the ranger on duty. Also it helps to ask the ranger if you see one If it is OK to shoot and where it is OK to do so, It will give you brownie points with the ranger
how do you get there from northern california? is there a entrance or is it just open desert and you pull off the road somewhere?
This is my main camping and riding area and I have been going there for at least 25+ years. It is down the 14 past red rock canyon and there is a ranger station at the entrance. If you are heading south on the 14 and go over a wash bridge and see a store and ATV rental on the right hand side you have gone to fare.
The problem is us old timers that have been going there all these years have tried to keep it a secrete but since its new growing popularity they have imposed lots of new rules and shut down lots of the trails that we loved in the past. Also allot of the new people leave all there trash behind and abuse the area heavily :!: . It has been very disappointing to see what all the new ignorant new people have been doing to the area   , In other words what you bring in you should Pack it out and don't spay paint graffiti on the landscape like a bunch of gangster morons as well as cut holes in the ranches fences like allot of people have been doing  :!: :!: :!: .......
I have a 2010 rzr that keeps popping out of gear when I let off the gas , has anyone else had this problem?
You need to check and get the linkage readjusted  ......
I would just like some honest input on this and not get into bashing machines
:?
Titan, are you trying to start something again :?:
. futureowner, not to be rude but every time this topic is brought up it will always turn into a war regardless of the accuracy of my postings or anyone Else's. This has been a beaten horse on this site :!: . There is enough information on the site to answer all you questions if you do a search
. If you ask me I love my Polaris and will plan to by another when the time comes :!:  .....
Did you get an AF gage installed with this kit? If not we need to do this the hard way, From what you are saying it is not a lean condition but an over rich condition due to unburnt fuel after the exhaust cycle. You need to watch the plugs and make sure that they are not black but brown, a whitish grey would indicate a lean condition. Plugs take several runs to make an accurate determination. It is O.K. to have a slight orange glow on the header pipe under load but not at idle. other then that to do an accurate Air Fuel adjustment at any given load and or R.P.M. an AF gauge should be installed  :!: .
The front differential will not work in Reverse, but works in Fwd?? This is a 2003 Ranger 500.
It sounds like it could be that the ECM is not receiving the signal from the transmission indication switch to tell the ECM that it is in reverse but it could be that the Hillard diff lock has an issue in reverse as well. Try to do a service to the front Diff if it has not been done and only use the approved fluid on the front differential.....
I think it ended up being $1500 off new price for each machine. The blue one had 2 miles and the black one had 6.
$3000 off for both with so little miles, cant go wrong with that
.
Great ride
. It is amazing what an extra $13.000+ dollars can do for you  .....
Got some new toys to add to the long list.
09 Yamaha Grizzlys 550 FI power steering. I love last years left overs. Gong in next week for full skid plates and winches.
Looking good Titan, how good of a deal was it :?: .
