The 800 mile trip is a loop trail with no hauling. The first trip along the Macgruder Corridor requires a truck/trailer shuttle of about 125 miles. I have used the same service we use for whitewater float shuttle and they are good. Pretty reasonable as well.
Last year we did the MacGruder trip staying in mountain lodges or cabins where they even provided the food. Marie liked that real well and I have to admit it was pretty dang comfortable. We did the trip in September so the color was on and the scenery was FANTASTIC.
I am happy to organize this if there is interest.
There are several long distance trips we could take in Idaho. One is from near Darby Montana through Idaho to the eats along the MacGruder Corridorto Elk City; then north to the Selway River and West along the Lewis and Clark trail to Lolo Trail pass.
I have done this one a few times and it is amazing. Three day minimum.
Another one from Salmon, Idaho east to near Grangeville, then south near Riggins through McCall to Stanley and back to Salmon. This trip is about 800 miles and you need a min imum of 5 days.
Mid to late July or August due to snow in the passes. Let me know if anyone has any interest.
Everything is assembled and ready to put in the trailer.
It is snowing again here in Idaho right now, I am sick of this winter crap so someone better get the weather right this week.
BTW I will bring shorts and insulated coveralls! See you Wednesday.
There is a lot of "where" in Wyoming. Looks like a good ride.
Lanse,
In getting things ready to go I found I have a big challenge in getting the Motor Home ready. I have made a change of plans and we are going to stay at Aarchway Inn. We will still be there on Wednesday evening, with any luck we will be there in enough time to ride a bit Wednesday evening. Looking forward to riding Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We can hardly wait!
It snowed another two inches this morning in Idaho Falls. I am sick of this crap!
Lanse thanks for saving us a spot. We will be there on Wednesday evening and will enjoy the time with you all. Thanks for organizing the rides. To bad I am missing Moab Rim, that one is a tough one for me. Too many crashes there!
The rest are fine and we should have pretty decent weather.
Thanks again see you next week.
I have driven a boat from Green River Utah down the Green to Confluence and then up the Colorado to Moab. It was an amazing trip!!
Let's do it!!
I guess we will have to bring the Toyota Avalon down for the first week of April ride!!!
Who needs a modofied rzr?
I live in Idaho Falls, ID and noticed there is a new Mag being produced by Harris Publishing (Sno West Magazine) and sevral others. They have a new magaizne that they are working on called Dirt Toys.
I have not seen it yet, a preview is on a web site called dirttoysmag.com might want to take a look.
Scott and I will be in my motor home. We are planning to stay wherever Lanse is staying. Keep me posted about Pritchett or OK RV
Thanks, Lookimg forward to some fun times. I really need a break away from this snow and ice.
Doug
I am coming - Marie is not. I will be there on April 6 in the evening and drive back on the 10th.
Scott Nelson is bringing his new rig so there will be at least 2 Idaho guys. We are thinking of bringing the motor home. It seems to me there is a RV park on the north end of town near the Aarchway Inn. Does anyone know the name of it? Might be Portal or something like that.
I have got my biggest hurdle out of the way and I am coming!!! I really need this. Not sure yet if Marie is coming or not. I may not be able to be there the whole time but think I will be there April 5 - 9
Keep me posted rather I should bring the Motor Home or if we are Hoteling!
Ends up we have a conflict on the 11th and a family reunion March 26 (get it over while the weather is not good and you don't waste a good riding or boating day with weird brother in laws)
We could come on 17, 18, and 19 Have to be back on the 20th for an assignment but we would drive throuigh the night.
Let meknow if that works for anyone.
Jared,
I am very antsy and thinking we might come down. How far away from Lehi Utah? Where is it via highway to unload spot?
Lynn,
Marie and I are interested in Moab March 11-13. We would love to meet your bride. Let us know if that would work for you.
