#211 Re: Ranger and RZR Photo Gallery » Pictures of 'S' with Recent Mods » 2009-03-06 22:26:46

As Fasttrax warned me...it would be a money pit.

As per the pics, I've added an Alpine Amp, Speakers, Brushguard, 1/2 Windshield and Lock n'Stow box in back.  Sitting aside I have a bikini top, Venom 4000 Winch, PIAA lights.  Special thanks to Kryptonite for his help.  He was great to work with and tolerated my frequent questions.
Thanks to my overpmt to uncle same, I just ordered some 26x12x12-7 Skat Trak Extreme Paddles and smoothies on Douglas Red Labels.  This is supposed to be a crappy weekend to ride, I'll get everything put on and be ready for the dunes in a couple weeks.  Headed to Coral Pink Sand Dunes for Easter.  The RZR should be ready to roll.

#213 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » Tire size recommendations » 2009-03-06 21:46:33

I am suffering from a power delemma on my 660. I run 14/12/26 terracross on the back and smaller on the front but have lost a lot of top end. Looking at going back to a 25" but not sure on width. Any recommendations?  :?:

Harbor Freight has some really skinny ones that would reduce your rolling resistance...that should speed you up.  If you look in the section of their store that has the lawn mower and wheel barrow replacement wheels you'll quickly find them.  Best of luck.   lol

ONLY KIDDING.   tongue   Why don't you change your gears?  After putting the 37's on my truck, I have to do the same if I want that top end power back.  This way you can keep the tires and get the gains your seeking.
Let me know if you need some help.

BTW, I see your a SXS Scholar, I'm only a rookie.  You should already know this.

Later.

Hi all new to the Forum.
I saw some UTVs on a website Best Price ATVs.
They seem to be a No Name unit that is shipped to your home and can be assembled in 3 hours or so.
I would only be using it for light duty, mostly driving around my farm and going down the street to our Live Steam Train Club.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks in advance.....AR in Ma.

Sorry, but I've only heard horror stories from the no-name brands.  However, don't take my word for it, lets hear what others with direct experience have to say.

I'm envious.  Looks like a really fun time.  Sand Hollow is a great place...even greater with the right people around.  Hope you follow you all there next year.
Until then, who's going on the Utah sXs Group ride in April?  (See Utah sXs group ride in the 'events, rallies and races' index)  I believe it starts around the Vernon area, going south to Cherry Creek and loops back...about 75 mi or so.  While this isn't that really nice red sand, I think it would still be a great get away.  It would also be really nice to meet all of you.

Does this mean you are not going to meet us at Sand Hollow?  sad

Looks like the long range forcast is this weekends storm will move out first of the week and steadily get better for next Weekend  big_smile I plan on arriving late Thursday night and be ready to Ride Friday  8)  Fasttrax, you better make it... bring Brad777 too (we need to break in his machine  wink )

Sounds like a great time, but I can't make it on that weekend.  However, I did get it out today.  Went to Little Sahara and had a great time.  Unfortunately, but happily, I was able to help ride a guy out who crashed on his DS 650.  I believe this guy had some broken ribs and a concussion.  It was nice to have the opportunity to help out.  Fasttrax has crashed there and I nearly crashed there a few years back too.  BTW, the RZR S really surprised me.  Since I'm trying my best to break it in right, I really didn't push it hard, but on knobbies, it climbed the valley pretty easily.  Additionally, the ride is as smooth as hoped for.  Hope it keeps getting better from here.  A picture from the dunes...

BTW, met a guy named Wes who has had his 'S' for a couple months.  He mentioned that he will at Sand Hollow with you guys this weekend...riding with Kryptonite.  Enjoy your ride and be safe.

Brad

I hope that guy is ok....

Glad to hear that you are happy with your RZR S.  big_smile

Wes told me he was going down today. You guys do any racing?  lol

How was the sand?

It was funny...Wes pulled up while we were unloading.  The weather was cool, but good enough for a ride.  I had just told my youngest to stay out of the mud when, not more than a minute later, he lost his shoes in the mud and was standing wet and dumbfounded next to the puddle he had stepped in.  I walked over and got his shoes and asked him what the *ell he was thinking.  I was chapped.  Wes and and his wife (I suspect) had pulled up next to us and was unloading, when out of no where, I looked at my kid and verbally asked him what he was thinking and called him a dumb a**.  (BTW, as Fasttrax can tell you, I'm rarely like this)  I generally get along really well with everyone.  Regardless, I bet I left some really nice first impressions.  Tell Wes I appologize for this.
Anyhow, a couple minutes later I noticed the Kryptonite Racing on the back of his trailer, went over and introduced myself.  We talked for a while...really nice guy.  We never raced...sounds like he's made a few mods and would have surely beat me anyhow.

The sand was wet, but all in all, we had a super great time.  I have to wonder how much some 7 paddle extremes would help the RZR in the sand.  With only a bit of throttle, I know I was spinning the tires most of the time.  While I prefer riding in the mountains, etc., we often go to the dunes...they could be beneficial.  Share your thoughts.

It would have been great to meet many of you at Sand Hollow.  Despite missing this opportunity, I'm sure we will meet sometime soon.  Anyone ever thought about meeting someplace for dinner?

I appreciate the invitation.  I too, if allowed, will plan on joining your group.  Sounds like a great time and a nice chance to meet others who share a respect and appreciation of our State.

Half windshield or full windshield for my 'S'.  Which and why?

#221 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Picked up the RZR S today... » 2009-02-01 18:17:29

Congrats... You should have brought it out to the dunes yesterday. WE willl get it dirty yet!

You went to the dunes and didn't let me know?     I'm certain the paddles wouldn't be necessary when the sand is damp, but what about when it's really dry?  Is airing down sufficient enough then?

#222 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Picked up the RZR S today... » 2009-02-01 14:09:12

Do you want the "Necessary Options" list now or later?  wink

I have an idea what I want, but I'd be very interested in a list of "Necessary Options".  BTW, how necessary are paddles on the dunes.  I have no plan on climbing big sand mountain or the like?  I have a 2006 TRX450R when I want to get crazy.  It's not the fastest, but it's fast enough.  Thanks

Dealer had 3 RZR S' come in on Thursday.  He said he had a guy put money down on one before talking with the wife.  I guess the wife said no so I got mine one month earlier than expected.  YIPEE!!  BTW, the little bit I've rode it...maybe a mile, I'M ELATED.  We will be duning soon.  I'm looking forward to meeting a few of you on this forum.

Here's a few pictures...

Steadmans can do better than that!  wink

Are you really ready for the dark side?

Found a Polaris dealer outside the SLC valley that beat them.  Since I've already started the transaction, Steadman's matched their price.  Saved almost $400 more.  Steadman's is awesome.

#225 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » 2010 Yamaha Rhino » 2009-01-25 23:36:29

Don't get your hopes up.  It's going to be something really low to the ground and really wide so Ryan doesn't roll it.  With any luck, it will have a 1000cc engine so we can take it to Larry Millers park and race it.  You guys are going to be following me to the Dark Side.  However, if Yamaha does something really neat, I'll have to reconsider my RZR S purchase...due in March.
