I'd love to do this ride but it's a hell of a ride from Upstate NY and the timing is a lil off for me, ya think you will do anymore towards summer, for something like this we were planning an Arizona/Grand Canyon trip next year after school lets out for the kids and my daughter's HS Graduation...

OK yesterday I spent some time putting on a fold down windshield and a camo soft enclosure.... not real happy with the windshield it bows a little not sure if this is how it shoud be???? Well I took it for a test ride after installation with the wifey and my Bro and I decided to open her up to see what she could do (just broke her in).... All I can say is WOW.... 58 MPH doing 6270-6300 RPMs... the governor kicked in at that speed I think she would get more if there wasn't a governor, anyway I am pretty happy as it is but always would like some more is there anyway of doing away with the governor????

I been doing lots of research on side by sides for the last year and almost bought the Prowler but there were so many mechanical issues that I read about I went with the Ranger 800xp, now the question is should I spend the 800 bucks and buy the 5yr extended warranty or not..... I haven't read about any major issues with the Ranger which is the reason I bought it in the irst place and I already own 8 other Polaris Products all Snowmobiles so I knew they made a good product just never owned any of their atv's or side by sides my other atv's are (3) Honda's, (1) Yamaha and (1) Arctic Cat (which I just love)... thanks for your help on deciding on the warranty...

#7 Re: Ranger and RZR Parts and Accessories » Help requested with dual beam headlight conversion » 2010-09-08 19:13:09

The new 2011 Rangers have a dual headlight with high and low beam, might be just changing out the bulb to dual element and changing out the headlight rocker switch to a off high and low beam I asked my dealer when I was in there to change my 2010 over to that setp and he said it would work  big_smile

#11 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Ranger 700 or 800 range on full tank » 2010-09-06 13:17:13

New guy here!  I'm looking to buy a 2010 Ranger 800 XP for driving back roads that are too rough for my truck.  Any guess on how far I could go on the 9 gallon tank?  Is there any kind of fuel reserve system or do you just run out and stop?

Also, what's the difference between the 800 HD model and the 800 XP?  The dealer told me it was just power steering but it's $1,200 more expensive for the 800 HD.  The only thing I can think of is it has a hydraulic pump for add on accessories.  Anybody know?

Sorry if this was answered before.  I did a search on the gas mileage question and saw only one post for an RZR.  I'm looking forward to learning about these machines from you guys here  big_smile

Thanks,

Rich

The mileage varies on how you drive them but they really don't get the best mileage anyways. I could get around 70 miles per tank on mine so figure around 9 mpg. also the one big difference between the H.D. and the XP is the restrictor plate that limits the H.P. to 40 H.P. If it is removed it will have the same H.P. as the standard RZR engine. Also one last thing is to remove the clutch limiter from the primary clutch to get more mile per hour....

Rnager I have the 800 XP where is the restricter plate and will it make my machine have more guts if so how much speed will I gain???
