2011 NEW YEAR'S EVE DAY SAND JAM

POT LUCK SAND JAM
Bring your quads, sideXsides, sand bikes, sand car or rail, the family & some food or beverage to share around.  Come for the day or spend New Years!

At the new location at BOX CAR DUNES, NORTH BEND, OREGON.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31.  Noonish til???

Lease is signed for us to install a 300’ regulation sand drag track on the flat area at the top of Box Car.  While we’re raising the money to build it and buy timing lights, we thought we’d groom the track site a bit so you can check out the new site & make all the passes you want to start the New Year right!

It should be flat & smooth enough for rigid frames with wheelie bars as well as sand toys with suspension.

This is NOT a race.  Just a get together to Jam, munch & check out the new site.  There won’t be timing lights, flag drop or any entry fees.

DONATIONS will be accepted to cover the diesel for the tractor.

CAMPING & PARKING:  On site, graveled RV & hauler parking is available as well as sand parking & camping.  Call the owner’s camp host for cost & to make reservations (think it’s like $10 - $15 a nite):  541.660.1443.
You can also Day Park or camp at the USDA Horsefal Dunes campground and parking lot that’s nearby or Hauser.  Need to make your own arrangements.

Please RSVP to us.  Even if you just THINK you might come, tell us and estimate how many in your group.  No commitment on your part.  We just don’t want to run out of anything.  Just message us at this email address.

Directions will follow in another email.

The city council of Florence, Oregon—by the Oregon Dunes—has banned atvs/utvs/sand rails/sand cars from races within the city limits!

http://www.thesiuslawnews.com/v2_news_a … ?heading=0

There’s a Boycot Florence Businesses movement gaining momentum.  Duners and riders anywhere are asked to send the Chamber of Commerce an email telling them your Boycoting Florence Oregon Businesses.  Their email is:
kady@florencechamber.com

Do a “cc” to Chase97439@gmail.com
He’s forwarding the emails in batches to the local newspaper editor.

Yup, it's happening in Florence, Oregon, in private dunes just north of Fred Meyers! A 300 ft. flat REAL sand track with timing lights for everyone from kids to pilots of the "fastest" long bikes to enjoy! First event will be a test n tune format on OCT. 16TH. Run the lights as many times as you want! Spectators and racers can park their car or truck right next to the track and watch the action. Don't need 4x4. Overnight camping. Kids' oval fun track. Racing for the whole family. Come race Saturday, camp the night and play at the Oregon Dunes on Sunday. More details posted here soon. Or contact: florence.sand.race.park@gmail.com to get on the email list for automatic updates!

If your heading to the Sand Sports Super Show at the OC Fair &Event Center in Costa Mesa this weekend and you want to check out tires & wheels for your atv/utv, be sure and stop by Fullerton Sand Sports' booth. Dave at Fullerton is good people and I won the Dune Fest Oregon 2010 Pro Race on paddle tires they provided me. More info at Fullerton Sand Sports.com

Ok, here’s the deal.  For a long time, some of us racers have wanted to set up a permanent sand drag strip at the Oregon Dunes here in Florence, Oregon.  Well it might be happening.

We’ve found a property owner who owns private dunes right off Hwy 101 in Florence, who’s willing to cover the cost of making a flat 300’ sand drag strip with timing system (starting lights, mph, 60ft/300ft times), food, camping for fees similar to Albany drags ($10 entry & overnite, $25 test n tunes, sportsman races, $40 pro).  To begin it would be once a month, YEAR ROUND.  Dates would NEVER conflict with Albany Sand Drag’s dates so we can all attend both.

It would be Family as well as racer friendly, open to everyone, from riders who’ve never had a shot at running thro the lights, kids, their parents, sportsman riders/racers, pro racers, quads, custom drag bikes, side by sides and organized so every type & class of rider wanting to race can have fun and get some serious racing done too.

We’re waiting on the city to process the permit to proceed with the first event (targeting Sept. 25/26), but before the owner starts spending the money to pull this all together, he’s asked us to give him some feedback about rider/racers’ interest.

So would you be interested in a real sand drag track in Florence?  Would you come use the facility often with the entry fees noted above?  Any feedback, comments, suggestions, excitement you might have & we can share with the land owner would be appreciated so he can be encouraged to move ahead.  Send your input to me here at this thread or at  garyarmstrong88@gmail.com.  Thanks!
