All this talk about Mesquite, is making me hungry.
My vote is that we eat something flavored with Mesquite!
lol

Getting close…

The new exhaust and intake snorkel needs to be thermal barrier coated, and more heat shielding added.
The instrumentation needs to be installed so we can monitor EVERYTHING.
The intercooler fan needs to be installed, and the clutching done. It needs ALLOT of weight in the clutching.
They are working on the finishing touches for the revised ECM, so the video is with stock settings.

I begged them to take it out in the parking lot so we could see it run in rough form.
They obliged, but warned me that it is no where near as quick as it will be once it’s done!
Heath could only give it part throttle because it was violently smacking the rev limiter if it was pushed anywhere near full.

Until they finish the first round of testing, they have limited it to about 4# of boost.
This thing is DAMN impressive for 4# of boost & part throttle!

That looks like a great product. What does it cost$
looking forward to see seeing the install and your feed back on it.
It is something I may look into in the future, after breaking my back 2 years ago im always looking for a softer ride.
My only thought or concern is moisture in the air lines frezzing in winter.

I asked your question to the engineering department, & here is the response I just got back.
(BTW They have a set of UTV Tracks on their Ranger right now and are currently doing a bunch of testing in the snow.)

"As far as moisture freezing the lines or solenoids... We have NEVER had this happen. We test in all kinds of conditions and weather across the nation. We LIVE in South Dakota, where today it is –1 degree with a –10 degrees wind-chill. Although we had a Kubota’s fuel gel up, we have had no problems utilizing the air suspension system today or in any weather conditions. This is part of normal testing for us. I also understand Polaris Manufacturing has a set of our shocks and has been doing more drastic weather testing and has, to this point, had no failure in any part of the Legend Air Suspension System. Lastly...as with any system we sell, we stand behind our product with a lifetime guarantee. If any customer EVER has a problem they can contact us, the manufacturer directly and we will work to correct or replace part or all of the system. 605-720-4207"

I know that Jared at Ruthless Motorsports is going to be offering some special pricing on these things, so I’ll let him weigh in on that.

One of the things that impress me is the lifetime warranty, and the fact that they have tested it in freezing temps.

I’m really looking forward to this project.

Just when you thought “Brutus” was finished…

On its first trip to Moab Utah, a couple of flaws were found.
First off I cranked up the preload on the shocks & positioned them to the outside mount to compensate for the weight of people in the back. This caused a problem getting the machine into the transporter. It was too tall to clear the door opening. I had to put about 750 pounds in to get it to squat enough to get in the door. That works fine if you have a bunch of people handy, but it doesn’t always work out that way.

The other issue was found after we loaded up and went out on the trail. Even with the springs cranked up all the way, the rear end still sagged badly. This picture illustrates how bad it got when climbing.

Thanks to Jared at www.ruthlessmotorsports.com
I found the solution to both problems. Legend Air Suspension. Here is a video that shows how it works. The kit is on its way and will be installed as soon as the supercharger is finished.

They are getting final component placement really close to finished.
This will be the final placement of the muffler. (The stock muffler will be used on the production kits; it will just be relocated to the driver’s side. This is not the final exhaust pipe from the muffler forward, but it gives an idea of placement.

The air intake on Brutus will be a cold air snorkel, I’m not sure of exactly how the production kit will end up. (Because of the bed)

Update pictures of the final supercharger bracket & modified engine cover.

Here is a picture of the reprogrammed ECM with a custom tune to control ignition timing under boost. I don’t know of anyone else that does that with their forced induction systems. This tune adds a few hundred more RPMs as well as more protection for the engine. This is one extra safety measure that prevents engine damage, and makes it so I don’t need to drop the compression.

I bought my 6,000 K HIDs from Jared at Ruthless Motorsports, and was blown away at how much brighter my lights were. Great product, fantastic price, and customer service was second to none.

P.S. I liked them so much; I bought a set for my two GMC trucks as well!

Just inspecting the skid plate!

lol

Looks like a few skids on the underside.  After a tumble like that, did you check your bottom to see if it looked similar?   lol  lol

That is 3,300 miles of sliding across rocks. That UHMW is AWESOME!

#134 Re: Goin' Riding... Who's with Me? » Little sahara Saturday! » 2009-11-27 20:23:16

I’ll give it a shot in the morning.

Thanks again all for a fantastic day. The weather was great, and the company was second to none. I can’t think of a better group to ride with.

After the ride, Brad, Ryan, and I stopped by Mountain Performance for a look at Brutus, and a test drive of their Supercharged RZR. Man I wish I had that thing at the dunes today, that thing is WICKED!
