Ryan, you are always welcome in my driveway  wink  Happy to help if needed. Is yours an 06'? If it is you might have it easy and can route it differently. I am curious if you will need to richen your mixture too.

Thanks for the info and the pics wbull! Looks like some fun riding in the hills of Kentucky  smile

Dang - they have the same deal on a RZR  big_smile  Might be time to ad to the stable - RZR for the dunes and Rhino for the rocks  8)

Welcome Javier! Where are you living now? Would love to see where you are riding - get us some photos!  smile

Nice ride wbull! I am interested how you mounted your lights and if they interfere with the hood when you raise it? I want to add a winch and keep my Soltek's (lights) behind the front bumper like you have done, but haven't figured out a way to do it. Any closeup photos of that area appreciated.

I agree. But if it is just for work you might want to consider some of the other "work horses" like the John Deere, Kubota or others.

#1299 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » backfire???? » 2008-03-25 15:42:29

I agree -maybe an exhaust leak. If not check your jetting - if it is backfiring you are running lean.

Sorry you are waiting on a ride ArZeeAr... almost plunked my $ down last Spring, but decided on the Rhino. No regrets, but I wouldn't mind a RZR for the dunes  :?

What was the dealer trying to sell you AAFD? The Rhino doesn't have the biggest bed or the best payload, but I will bet you will have more fun working  big_smile Pulled a 6" stump with mine and hauled some things around my little yard, I am impressed with its utility! I am even more impressed with its climbing ability

#1301 Re: Goin' Riding... Who's with Me? » EASTER WEEKEND!!! » 2008-03-25 15:27:59

Probably my fault (blah blah blah  lol  too much talking) and we needed to get back home. We had fun riding around White Sands for a little while  big_smile

BTW - Nice job on the Teryx Martin - you are getting as much air (if not more) than in the RZR   Now we need photos or video of Dave's crunched RZR cage

Nice backyard   From where do you hail?

Man, this place is like a graveyard, wait, there's more action in a grave yard.

Easter weekend - everyone riding... except you  wink
Just got back from the dunes  big_smile

Promised some of you I would post some photos and details about the low budget snorkel I added to my 07' Sport. My intention was to reduce cab noise (intake). I found a thread on this forum

http://utilityoffroad.com/forum/topic.a … C_ID=14149

which referred to this thread

http://www.rc-trucks.org/yamaha-rhino-snorkel.htm

Seemed like a great idea to reduce cab noise - which increased after I added a RAIS Power Tube (increased intake size from something like 1 1/4" to 2 1/4").

I found the 2 1/2" ducting at a local hose supplier EVCO in Orem, UT. (Heavy duty - wire re-inforced)
Specifically LT-2 1/2, 10' cost $45.68 also bought a T-275 heavy dury hose clamp for $6.00 Ducting is rated for over 250 degrees, so hopefully it will hold up being close to the engine and coolant lines.

I used the RAIS with the top gasket removed, rotated it so it angled back and sealed the connection to the air box with duct tape. Attached the ducting (perfect fit on the RAIS) with the heavy clamp. Had to crush (oval) the ducting slightly where it crosses the carb and also down the side of the engine cylinder so the engine cover will fit - it is tight and a little tough to get on but I am hoping it will get "trained"  wink

I had to route ducting differently than others have done it, there are differences in the air box between model years. It was tight getting the ducting under the exhaust cooling fan and housing and may make it harder to remove fan housing but I will cross that bridge later.

I routed the ducting thought the from drive line tunnel tying if off frequently. I did have to cut 2 of the support "fins" on the botom of the tunnel cover (sorry no photos). Then routed it between the coolant reseviour and and steering - comes fairly close to the steering knuckle so I tied it off well in that area.

Ran the end of the duct on the frame to just behind the grill and put a "panty hose pre-filter" on the end.

I also plugged the hole in the original intake on the engine cover.
My first time out was at the dunes. It was obviously running lean. Ended up turning the mixture screw out about 1 1/2 turns - I am getting more air than before! I was worried it might restrict air flow... I am still a little baffled. Overall this mod was well worth it! Cab is quiet and I can hear the exhaust and my tunes much better now  big_smile
