Wow, $1100 for a computer. That's steep, and then they suggest a profesional intallation. That's gonna be $$$$. I don't believe just a computer could get you 20hp on a trooper either. I'd want to see it perform in person before I dropped $$$ into the midteens on a product.
I was thinking about getting the Trooper T4 but went with the Crew. But you've sparked my interest in where you would get a performance chip for the Trooper. I never saw one in my research while I was considering my purchase.
My 3, 5, and 6 year old are shoulder to shoulder in my brother-in-laws RZR4 with the rear bench which wouldn't cut it for me. They would only fit for a couple more years for 1 but the worst part would be a 3, 5, and 6 year old sitting shoulder to shoulder if you know what I mean. I went with a 2010 Crew and thought I wouldn't be happy with the 46 mph top speed and the fewer hp but I think it was a better decision for me since we can grow into it and I still haven't found anywhere I couldn't go comfortably. No I can't climb china wall at the dunes but so what, I can dune everywhere the quads RZR's and sandrails in my camp dune and I can put 4 grand into my Crew for performance parts before I reach the price of the RZR4. We could all fit in the crew until they are old enough to buy there own toys. We'll still have dirtbikes and quads but we like our family outings.
I hate to say it but I had my hopes up for something more. The new engine is awesome but the rest of it is just like every other long travel RZR out there. I know the trailing arm with probably handle way different but all in all it's just a long travel RZR with more power. There's a million of them out there. I guess it is cheaper than buying a stock one and building it yourself, and it comes with a warranty, and you can build from here and you'd already be starting ahead of everyone else..... OK nevermind I like it. I still don't think it's a whole new class unless a trailing arm will do that, but the Joyner Trooper and the Tomcar already have trailing arms. Oh well, will that engine make a clean swap into my Crew. ![]()
They wouldn't even have to come up with anyting new they've got the 70hp Sportsman 850 engine right now. They better get on the ball, I think they have awesome products but they are getting passed by their competitors in the stats area.
I read an article in UTV magazine where they put a Rotax 800 V-Twin in a Rhino and I think it's like double the HP but the engine is still stock so it's reliable. I think their website is rotaxyourrhino.com . It's a little extreme but it didn't look too difficult either.
But my problem is only with the front. My back shocks are on the outer mount but the softest setting and they are still stiffer than I need. So for $500 I can solve my problem and save $1500 and I'm fine with it being a manual pump. Even though the legend system would be nice, I can't afford it. I guess what I was looking for more was if anybody has used these to see how they ride/work and if I do swap my springs or might have to get longer ones or don't use any at all like some air shocks.
P.S. That's a nice ride.
Polaris Part # 2877060. Does anyone have these? Are you supposed to take the springs off your stock shocks and put them on these? They look like they have an adjustable preload ring and the two rings on the left in the pic would be the bottom spring capture. I want these because with my family of 5 even with the shocks on the outer mount and stiffest setting I still bottom out alot. And of course my bumpstops are gone. Just wondering how they ride I would like to be able to adjust for a full crew bombing around the dunes or my wife just taking a cruise to go pick up my daughter from school because right now on the stiffest setting it beats you up when just driving easy.

It is a little expensive compared to conventional oils, but its in the ballpark with other leading synthetics and since it only holds 2 quarts I feel it should have the best oil possible and as long as Polaris is warranting the parts I'm going to run their stuff. The way I look at it is it costs the same amount to change the oil in my truck whether it uses the same amount or not it's just as important. If you do want to switch a 0w50 would work just the same as 2w50, I would stick with a good synthetic though, but difinitely don't go with straight 50w that will be to thick for cold operations.
I purchased a Lexx Fuel Controller for a 2010 RZR S and it brought my plugs back into the proper mixture range and for $200 now I can adjust for any future mods.
I pulled it out and it runs better and the spark plug looks just ok, not great but I'm worried it might be too lean. It doesn't lean pop or backfire on decell but i'm trrying to find a fuel controller for it and nobody seems to have one yet.
I found it on the microfiche for the 2010 6x6 800. It shows it in the picture but doesn't list a part number. Now I'm wondering if my Crew has it cause if they put it on the fiche for the 6x6 why wouldn't they do the same for the Crew. Enough of this, tommorrow I'm pulling it off and looking. I'll be back. 8)
I looked up the part #'s for the throttle body, intake manifold and exhaust manifold for a crew and the XP and they are the same part #. They're even the same as the RZR S. I'm still gonna look myself but everytime I turn around I'm hearing something different. I wish I could talk to Polaris, I e-mailed them like a week ago but they probly won't tell me anyways for liability and warranty reasons. There's gotta be something behind all the rumors, I'll let you guys know when I pull it off and check.
I just bought a 2010 Sandstone Crew and have heard that there is a restrictor plate in the exhaust. I'm going to pull it off and check but not until its broke in. Has anyone heard of the restrictors, I've only seen them on the little kids quads. And does anyone have any opinions of the 2010 crew, I love it so far were gonna use it for the dunes and in the mountains. We're a family of 5.
Polaris has them on their website, polarisindustries .com
