I am considering selling my 4 wheelers and buying a UTV.  There is a guy in my neighborhood selling an older polaris Ranger, but I really don't know anything about these things, and I am hoping to get some information on what to watch for, things you should know buying a used UTV, etc.  My budget for one of these is not real high, probably closer to $3k, $4k absolute max.  What can you tell me?

Thanks!

Somewhere on this site we have done many discussions in regards to this same question. I will try to locate the links by tonight wink

I need help solving a cold natured problem with my razr. when first cranked it runs like it very lean, then when warmed up seems to go away, but still lacks power. added dual exhaust and waiting on new air filter.[font=Arial:45096bbeca] [/font:45096bbeca]

When I first started to read about your problem my first thought was the Tbap/Tmap sensor but at the end you answered the question. A major exhaust change with no fuel controller would cause the problems you are talking about  ....

Hello everybody,,,I need just the tinyist bit of help and won't take up too much of somebody's time. On my 2000 Mule, I need to know what size and thread the bolt that is screwed into the end of the FNR shaft. It is the one that holds the driven clutch onto the shaft. When I got this Mule, it did not have an engine or either of the clutches and am to the point of my restoration to re-install the clutch on the FNR shaft. I have tried several metric size bolts and even tried some 5/16 Sae fine and coarse thread ones.   Can anybody help??   Thanks for any help.

I would try to contact EPI and ask them, They may know what size it is......

high centering is what i was worried about. The trail terraine around here is hilly and rocky. Are you crew guys getting high centered much. What does a lift run? I have two boys that would go with me every time I start teh machine, the crew woudl ensure the wife could go if she were so inclined. The extra $800 is worth it as long as it is just a s capable as the 3 seater. I am trying to avoid the I wish I woulda's .

Hi centering is when you go over a berm and turns you into a teeter toter. Longer wheel base vehicles would be a little more prone to this. As for the lift cost, contact ruthlessmotorsports at the vendor row....

I do not think you need to worry. Install a winch up front and you will not ever get stuck   wink ....

I am going to jump in on this thread question, rather than start a new thread. I am interested in a 09 or newer ranger. I can buy a new 2011 800 for 10,092 from abernathys in TN, or the crew for $800 more. I was not too keen on the crew because of the length. What do you guys with the crews think. Is it a problem in the woods? I live in teh Ozarks fo Missouri.
Also all the used ones in my area seem to be in the $10 K area so I dont see any value in buying used. I would need to save $2k to $2500 to make it worthwhile, do you agree?
I did own a RZR when they first came out. I loved it but it wasnt the ahndiest on the farm. I had to sell it because of finances, but I hav esince improved my personal situation so I am in the market and I have missed mine every day since I sold it. I need the ranger though not a rzr. I need ot be able to haul stuff.

The crew would be a little more prone to high centering then the non crew version. Adding a lift kit will help and being more aware of the terrain will prevent any problems as well....

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum so I will give you a little back ground and then my recent experiences.   I work for the DOD and we have several of the 2008 700 V Twin EFI Rangers.  I am trying to correctly diagnose and correct the problems without throwing many not needed parts at them.  We recently had one that would not idle nor would it run well between 1200 and 1900 rpm.  The first issue was low fuel pressure 28psi needed to be 36 to 39 I believe or close; so new fuel pump.  then 2 codes crank position sensor, and tps.  we installed both and after reading many blogs took it to the local dealer.  the dealer installed a new throttle body because we had adjusted the idle screw on the throttle body.  we got it back yesterday and started fine idled fine, but backfired and missed between 1200 and 1900.  the mechanic at the dealer said the throttle cable is sticking.  I didn't beleive that would cause an issue, but it did.  I replaced the cable this morning, and what a difference.  but still has a little pop like a preignition firinig our the throttle body.  I talked with another polairs certified mechanic who told me about replacing the t map sensor and "flashing" or updating the computer with new parameters for the map sensor.  the ranger is scheduled to go in next week wed.  for the flash providing the dealer has all the info.  Also when we got the ranger back the battery light was flashing so I checked the battery, and no charge.  The rectifier/regulator is bad.  I swapped parts with another (it's always nice to have another exact same machine to do that)  so I need to get a rectifier also.  I have read alot of posts on this forum and have found some great info.  any other comments/info would be appreciated.

Park the ranger in a very dark garage at night and start it. turn off all the lights and watch around where the spark plug wires plug into the spark plugs and rev it up to where it starts misfiring and backfiring. look for jumping arc from the wires to the engine and do the same at the coil pack.

You also may still have an out of adjustment TPS and your dealer screwed you on a throttle body as well. All he had to do is re adjust the screw. Also meter the wires back from the TPS to the ECM to make sure there are no connections going bad in the splice savers or the connectors. you will need to have the service manual to run the wiring down. The splice savers may also be related to some of your other issues..

One last thing. The 700 is a in-line twin and not a V twin......

How does a jury select their foreman? I've been summoned to jury duty next month, and from participating in mock trials I'm pretty comfortable with courtroom procedures, I just don't recall being told who decides who the foreman of the jury is. Do the jurors vote or does the judge appoint one? Is it something a juror should volunteer for or is it one of those things people try and wiggle out of?

To answer your question. The jury selects the foreman and I always try to get out of it lol  wink

Maybe it was our cracks about health care that opened this thread up  :?:   lol

I don't know, We were hit hard with spam this morning and I found this post. I think I read it 10 times and looked real hard to find the spam link in it. They have been getting sneaky latley copying other peoples post and converting a word in it to attach a spam link.

I decided to leave it since it was not spam and did not violate any forum rules roll ....

Yes but im running android, not windows lol

Try it again when you get to a MS Base computer. Linux based OS's are not always compatible with website and software. Then I am sure there will not be any more problems with posting videos....

i do most of my browsing on my tablet and for some reason this site wont let me upload pics from it. i might upload a slideshow of them to youtube and post a link

At the top on the menu bar there is a little icon with a mountain and a sun in it. Jpg format will work. I have not done video so I am not sure what could cause the problem.

Most people seem to use youtube as well for that.....

#90 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Series 99 wiring diagram » 2011-07-18 22:14:45

Anyone have access to a wiring diagram for a 2001 series 99?  Trying to get the tail lights working and unable to trace the wiring. I have brake lights but no tail lights, bulbs are good.  Found the red wire from the lights hanging down but can't find where it goes back to. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

You will need the service manual for this. The farthest I go back is 2004 on mine.....
