Not at this moment but will look into this tomorrow, I remember seeing something like this.
My name is Dale and i have a 2005 Ranger XP out of palmdale ca, I have been involved in racing since 1975 and worked with minor race teams as engine builder and crew chief till about 10 years ago. now it is all about camping and having fun riding, bought the ranger in 2005 and love the hell out of it and keep up on all the mods and the research that is out there for these machines, Well that is about it and thought since i have been on this site for a few weeks I should say hello at this time.
I am truly glad that they were able to fix the XP, The next thing you need to do is extend the drive train vent tubes to prevent water from getting in the vents like what i saw on your picture, That is very important when doing water crossings, it is much more important on the front end since the locker is oil bathed and watter will have an effect on the locker system its self. Did they check the rest of the drive system for watter since they found it in the transmission, :?: just a word of advice.

O.K. there has been apparently been a problem with the RZR air boxes and the sealing design with them, Polaris has a warranty fix for the problem and you should call and take it to your dealer for the fix. make sure that your dealer looks into the warranty repair from Polaris themselves since not all Polaris dealers are on the ball with things with these machines, They will need to change out some parts for a new design. :roll ![]()
You are welcome. ![]()
They make a silt sock that can be fitted over the filter for extreme fine silt conditions, I am not sure who made it but will try to find out about it. The only problem with the silt filter is you will have to keep it clean a lot more often.
One hell of a rig, I love the fact that you are doing this with a Highly modified ranger XP, Let me know if you will be running in my neck of the woods, Would love to see it run.
.
What is powering it, Is it going to be an 800 with a turbo, and what is it going to weigh when completed. :?: :?: and the rhino fender just don't look right, your XP really does look good. :!: :!: .
Looking good......
Hope the transmission problem gets taken care of and remember that I have seen units shipped from Polaris with drive lines with no oils in them and i would make sure that you double check there work, When I received My 2005 it had no rear end oil and was glade to catch that when it came off the trailer, Also remember that if you modify it the Sp ecu will not work perfectly on your year machine and needs the Sp cam or one of the other performance cams out there and you can not unlock the two rear wheels with that ECU, You will also need a fuel controller module to re curve your fuel injection, The best starting point is a clutching kit and have it set up for what altitude you ride the most, That is one thing these rangers need the most and are cheap and easy to do, also remember that not all the manufactures of parts for these make improvements and some times slow the machines down so do the research before you buy so you don't waste your money, I can help you with that a little and have you talk to the proper people.

I understand that you have not picked up the ranger yet and was interested in what they found out but was not thinking that you would buy another machine to test against it, The Ranger XPs are not full blown performance machines and are built to haul loads and be used for hunting and farming and be a little bit of a performance machine as well, It was a ramped up version of the ranger 500 from 2004,They are held back on horsepower by the government regulations to 40 horse power maximum because of payload capacity, Do not ask me why!!!. That is why the rzr is allowed to have more power on them and more CC's, The ranger engine is a detuned version of the sportsman 700 efi Quad engine, That is why you see that the ranger xp people are putting the SP cams in with the SP ecu's, the ranger comes stock with a less radical cam and ECU in which takes 5 to 6 horse power off the engines total horse power, the answer to the trex is the rzr and a hopped up rhino and not the ranger xp, they are two different animals for two different purposes, At some time I thought I would Buy a new long travel RZR sport to have my high speed fun with but i can't haul them both in my trailer at the same time. :?
The first question is has the front hub ever been serviced and how many hours are on it, Are you running the stock front end fluid because of the way the front hub is designed it must run the factory fluid for it, it is a special fluid for only this front hub, There is a solenoid that is engaged and puts the front end lock on, This is done buy giving it 11.8 to 12 volts in the front end and the use of some plastic parts. if the solenoid does not receive the correct voltage to engage the front end will not lock, When the solenoid is not plugged into the harness it should read 22.8 to 25.2 ohms at the connector, This is a little complicated and you need to start from one end and work to the insides, Start with the fluid change and run it for a while, Test the solenoid and make sure it is working, Make sure that the solenoid gets the signal from forward to reverse, I would do this by putting a meter on the wiring that goes to the solenoid and put in reverse and hit the all wheel drive button and see if voltage is getting there and repeat the same steps in forward gear, Remember that the all wheel drive is not on constantly and is only on when the rear wheels are slipping, the solenoid is not continuous duty, if this all checks out it may be something broken in the front differential, When it falls out of all wheel drive the part that works the locker must be disengaging and can you make it go to lock buy turning the switch on off and on again?. ![]()
That is good researching and really good info. ![]()
I think it is a great rig as long as you remember that loaded it would way a ton, It should go up hills good but could see a turning radius problem and the chance of high centering on some terrains, I would like a 800 EFI in it for the added Waite of the vehicle. ![]()
I was looking at a friends RZR and i think it was the same bolt pattern as my 2005. I will look more into this tomorrow but looking at when you posted this you may already have an answer or don't care anymore :!: :!:
