#767 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » Donaldson Intake Installation » 2008-10-25 12:57:18

Any modification outside the designs not approved by Polaris will void the warranty, The only exceptions is other brands of oils and filters that meet there specifications with an SAE or API services tagging, This is protected by a federal law called the Magnuson-Moss act, But any modifications to electrical like lighting and adding a stereo and drive train and suspension modifications or performance improvements that modify power output not approved by the manufacture can void the warranty, so if anyone is concerned about warranties you need to leave you units stock unless you know the dealer real well, They can chose to overlook things :!: .

The problem with the filter problem can not be fixed till they can seal the housing better and pull clean air from a better source, Is that black ring used to hold the air cleaner on tighter to the housing.  :?:

#771 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » RZR's should be recalled!!! » 2008-10-21 22:00:01

I was wondering the same thing, I think it at this point it only applies to Madinidaho on his problem, I ask him if he would do a compression test and a oil change to see if there is any damage or dirt in the oil, but hopefully it will all look good, I am sure he just wants to walk away from it for a while to cool off, That is what i would do :!: .

So it sounds like you are all good to go, I like happy endings big_smile .

#773 Re: The X Spot » Rzr one year later, wish i still had a yamaha :( » 2008-10-20 21:52:54

Well I normally would not get into this discussion but it is obvious here, When it is not yours people are going to drive it like they stole it, that is just how it happens, Maybe you should stop lending it out like a rental and drive it your self more often  , this is what I see here :!: , When i lend things out it seems when it comes back it is broken or scratched :!: , My friend bought a brand new rhino and with 6 hours it was rolled by a friend in camp and over $1.500.00 in damage and guess what, it was not the rhinos fault, and it had permanent scratches too, :!: He now just will not give the Keys to anyone any more and has had no trouble since. And he talks about how he should have bought a ranger because mine has been so reliable:!: After all he never pulled me out of a ruff spot yet and at least 5 times i either pulled him out or back to camp. :!:    , I just do not understand how you could go thru 3 axles and all these other problems in this amount of time without abusing the machine, The real only problem the RZRs have had Is the air box issue and I do not Agree on how Polaris has handled it otherwise these machines have been trouble free :!: , They have more power then all of them stock and are way faster, In 2005 I looked at every UTV on the market and based on work quality, how more robust it was built, practicality in storage compartments, Fit and finish, I chose to pay $1500.00 more and by the Ranger Xp, It has never let me down since :!:, I could keep going here but like I said I normally try to stay out of these conversations and I am sorry that you have had so much trouble with yours.....

When you started to talk about all the dirt that reminded me of the other problem and I really hate the fact that they would release something with out all the proper testing, You are right and that is not right for what they did, But I would like you to do a compression test to see how bad it is and check it with the manual settings I sent you when you have time and can you do a oil change to check for dirt contamination as well, That will tell all :?: . let me know what happens :?: .

#776 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Ranger Crew in the Dunes » 2008-10-20 16:35:43

It is a neat machine and with some work it will work really well, It is heavier and more likely to high center then most, Really think it should have come with the 800 engine to work with the added weight better   :!: .

In 2009 they changed the way the intake system is set up and there is a class action lawsuit involving this problem, On this site we have talked a lot on this an do a search, That guy got a new engine because of it and i posted a phone number for the attorney for him. :x . here is the thread http://www.sidexsideforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1085

One last thing, I was looking at the ATV CONNECTIONS site and found that there is a connector issue for the T-BAP sensor with the wires breaking in the connector on the 800 engines  .

Make sure you check you PM for the link i sent you :!: , It should help a lot and I would wait till you get the module before you make any mods even though you are showing a tiny bit rich on the plugs :?: , this could be false readings from the intake sensor :?: , I have pondered the K&N thing and they do flow more air and the filtration is not as good and in dusty environments could cause engine damage, That is why i do not use one at this time, If you do use the filter from K&N try to cut the amount of oil down till there is just enough to make the filter pink. and good luck big_smile

The barbs are normal and the plugs beleave it or not are a little rich, Unburned gas could cause blueing in the silencer, Starting to look more like the T-bap/T-map sensor at this point. :?:
