#61 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » new air filter....carb. jet? » 2011-03-25 19:47:39

If you just put something like a K&N in the stock air box, no you don't need to re-jet. If you replace the air box with an open air filter I would say yes.

It acts like a surge tank and it's for when you're cruising and all of the sudden floor it, it has a ready volume of air to suck in the intake vs having to pull a harder vacuum on a 2" diameter tube. You probably won't notice a difference though. They sell an item called a boost bottle for 2-stroke atv's that serve the same function as the Polaris box claiming better throttle response.

#65 Re: For Sale & Want Ads » Decent affordable UTV for my son? » 2011-03-05 17:30:27

I would put that in the (go-kart/golf cart) catergory. As far as new ones go, linked below is probably the cheapest thing I would buy and still consider it something to have fun with. Used you can find so many different UTV's for 5-7K but like you said, you never know what you're going to get. This isn't going to be an easy decision.

I forgot to even ask how old he is. If he's younger take a look at the RZR-170 they say no one under 12 years of age but my 7 year old drove my friends for an hour with no problem and had a ball. But my kids started riding atv's at 3 so they have some experience.

#66 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » HID headlight kit » 2011-03-02 22:07:25

I installed a similar kit on my Ranger and it's 4 times the light and HID's claim less power draw while running than halogens. The install took me probly 30 minutes. I could do it in 15 now that I'm familiar with the set-up. Mine was plug and play.

I would think so, if not I'll take it.

#68 Re: The X Spot » Watch Superbowl Online? » 2011-02-06 06:44:33

Yeah, most of those have been blocked for the superbowl though. I went to one that said it had been seized by the Department of Homeland Security. I then found an article that said the government is cracking down on the streaming websites that are pirating TV/Movies. Oh well.

I will be at work during the superbowl and don't have access to a TV. Can I watch the game online without subscribing to a certain website for $20 a month etc. I know I can watch the animated version of the play by play but I want to watch it like it's on TV. I've seen people do this before I just never payed attention how.

#71 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » Rhino Snorkel » 2011-01-28 21:19:46

Never mind, don't mind the ignorant Polaris guy here in the Rhino section. I just noticed the airbox. I was picturing a filter on the end of the snorkel for some reason.

#72 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » Rhino Snorkel » 2011-01-28 21:18:07

I like the snorkel but I don't see an air filter. Are you running one?

#73 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » Roll over lawsuit » 2011-01-28 21:14:45

I'm sorry for anyones loss, it is tragic and I have personally experienced it. This feels like a conversation I've had a million times with people about guns. Some people can't believe that I carry all the time and that people having guns is why this world is so violent. I know there's no way to explain to somebody how I feel about it if that is their belief but I like to use this in response to their anti-gun talk. Guns kill people, just like pencils mispell words, spoons make people fat, and now I can add SidexSides flip themselves. I broke my back in an ATV accident in 2002. I still ride, it's what I love and I don't blame the ATV, I was the one riding it. Unless you own a Red 58' Plymouth Fury I think it's all on yourself not the manufacturer, unless something malfunctioned. You can always argue that something could be safer. I've gotta go now, I've gotta email Leatherman cause I cut my finger with my new knife.

#74 Re: Joyner Trooper » Trooper mods » 2011-01-20 15:27:23

I'm just comparing it to my Excursion with a V10. Banks' Power-Pak is headers, y-pipe 3" catback exhaust, cold air intake, engine computer, and tranny computer and it's numbers claim 18% with alot more than a chip. We new this wasn't a cheap sport when we got into it though and there's nothing better to spend money on than more power. If I new how to spell Tim Taylors grunt I would insert it here.

#75 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » Can a Rhino 700 Run with the best of em » 2011-01-20 15:13:12

If you're interested in a motor swap I would check out the "Rotax your Rhino" guys, google it. It pretty much doubles the HP and keeps it in pretty stock form. And I like the Rhino's, they are a good all around vehicle.
