Sounds really good, It is something else that they would and could get away with running an engine that rich and the EPA would O.K. it, My 2001 XR650R has smog on it and Honda had to sell the go fast kit on the side to put it back to what it should be, It is A New intake and a high flow exhaust tip and a bigger jet to rich en it along with removable panels at the filter box, it still has the smog equipment on it that is required, My 2005 Ranger XP ran so lean that the plugs were showing white, The SP ecu took care of that problem and the 2006 and the 2007 we had to add fuel with the fuel controller with the stock exhaust and even more with the  exhaust Modifications.

i won, i did not say i supported anyone i just don,t talk politics, and stay away from those who do.as for childish, that is why i stay away, you have insulted me for no more than asking a question.

O.K. slumbert55, Above is were you said who you voted so do not tell me you never mentioned it, Here I try to stick up for you and all I get is Poo from You, I have no idea what your problem is and it has become apparent there is no way to make you happy, If you think me or anyone else on this site is picking on you, you really need to look at the PRC site and look under off topic discussions and really get beaten up there, at this point I think you are just trying to make trouble and I have better things to do like help people with there ATV and UTV problems :!:  :!: , I think you really need to reflect on what is happening  .

Good Show, Looks like it runs really well.

That's the theory, but the stock AFR's of the RZR are too rich to begin with, so after adding the pipe, we still pulled fuel out of the curves to maximize power.

I found the same with a Suzuki EFI with a new pipe. Initial setup on the Dyno was fine, added the pipe and the ratio was too rich. Talked to a guy at BUB that was running the Dyno and he said it's pretty common

What is really weired is that all ATVs and all UTVs must meet federal emissions standards like lawn equipment before they can be sold now so if they are to rich they could not pass :?: , That is really weired :?: , That would mean that the stock system would be less restrictive then the aftermarket system, When you move more air through the engine you need to compensate with more fuel, That means the engine would have leaned out to do that, In every race car i have dealt with when we take the exhaust off the header collectors we had to go up in jetting to compensate, That is the reason when you go up in altitude the older carburated cars start to run way to rich because of the lack of air, as for the Polaris and your Suzuki It may be because the the ECU and the T-map sensor gets confused and starts adding to much fuel to the fuel map because of the aftermarket system, That would be the only answer to this question, After all They do not have an O2 sensor seeing what is coming out of the engine to compensate, The ecu's aren't smart enough , Any how this thread was not meant for auto shop 101 and I will stop babbling on this lol .

Would it be easier to but a 5x8 trailer like i have for my Ranger xp to haul the RZR :?: , You can get them for under a grand and as low as $500 if you look around  .

Fasttrax, I do agree in the freedom of speech and I Love my guns as well, I also like to look at what everyone has to say, slumbert55 just does not want to talk and deal in debates on politics and I understand that side of it too, My political beliefs are right of center and slumbert55 voted for the left and that is his choice, I may not agree with what he believes in and vice versa, I also don't all ways agree with rush on the radio, What i will say is that we need to set up a rubber room so if people would like to talk politics or anything else it should be taken there and not mixed in with topics on UTVs, that way people that feel like slumbert55 can now have a choice not to go to that thread as well as anybody else that chooses not to, I personally sometimes like to look at those forms but that is my choice big_smile.

You should be OK for the weekend, The K&N is a great filter, Just keep an EYE that your engine does not start having a craving for the third course which is dirt, Otherwise get a K&N, it will go good with the exhaust, and remember, All an engine is is a air pump, The more air and fuel you can shove through it the more power it will make  big_smile .

#731 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » BIG GUN HELP » 2008-11-09 23:12:46

Remember, The K&N will flow better but will not filter in microns as well as the new RZR filter, so if you have an 08 RZR i would be a little concerned at this point about putting one on in dusty conditions, If it is a 09 i think it would be O.K. but would keep an eye on the intake track to make sure that it is OK, The 2009 RZR have more changes to the filter system then just a new air filter and seal. And again when you move more air through your motor which means a less restrictive intake system or a less restrictive exhaust system you will need more fuel to offset the added air. big_smile .

We didn't test that one, but based on the 10 we did test, I'd say your best bet for maximum power would the power commander, so you can remove fuel from the stock curve. If you can't get to a dyno to test it, though, I'd run the stock curve. Adding more fuel will reduce power with your pipe, most likely. But, I can let you know what all I have tomorrow, if you're really stuck on having one. smile

Chris

Adding a pipe does not richin the mixture, It leans it, You will need to add fuel when you put a pipe on :!: .

They all will need some tuning, the powercomander can run different fuel maps with the LCD display models, It is the best for more precise tuning, The boonedocker is a close second but it is way easier to use and they could help with the base setting when you buy from them, The AF gauge is what will make sure you do not mess things up and from what i see powercomander now has a model that has a AF gauge built into it but I need to look at it more and not sure if it is available for Polaris yet. Remember I did not see Dobeck listing a EFI unit for the 800 EFI It looks like they are all comeing out with new and improved models this year and i need to look at what has changed my self :?: .
