I would run the one from dirty dawg or bikeman performance, they have run these machines and worked with them longer then most and are the first with these products with continuad upgrades since then, all the rest are late in the game and only have gotten into it the last few years with polaris 700 and 800 cc engines, I would go with the experience other then tale end charlie on this.
Curly, sorry to here about the problem, the problem with your transmission should not have have happened on a 2008 model and should be fixed under warranty, they redesigned the ranger transmission midway thru 2007 to make them quieter with some different parts for just this issue, the mid 2007 and earlier units are loud and that is normal for them, They should not need to replace the whole unit and should only replace the parts that are needed :!:  , I would really look into another dealer because some of the Polaris dealers out there are not worth a "Poo" and have no idea on what they are doing at all
, yours sounds like one of them from what you have told me, also on one note, you are about one of 1% of the people with a ranger xp that has had this issue and it is not a common problem but there has been some and all of them have been fixed by a rebuild and upgrade and not a replacement, also I will say this again because it has happened to me and i caught this, (CHECK ALL YOUR FLUIDES BEFORE YOU RUN A NEW MACHINE FROM THEM OR ANY OTHER MANUFACTURE), Mine was off the show room floor and had no rear differential Fluid and it would have done the same thing :!: , also there has been old stock that has been used on newer machines and this could also be the case too.
You are welcome
, It is always good when we here what the outcome is :!: , thanks for getting back
, there is not enough of that :!: .
Sounds like the primary drive is not fully disengaging when the engine is running, make sure your idle is not to high and check the primary clutch, check the motor and transmission mounts also, they are critical for transmission and engine alignment, service the gear case.
There is no adjustment to the belt system unless you are having belt breakage problems, all you need to do is pull the old one off and put the new one on, you do not need to unloosen anything to do it, it is very easy to do.
The optima is not made by the same manufacture it was in the past and is not as good as it use to be, go with the odyssey instead, do not look back......
The service intervals would be the same as the older ones and the same oils as well, there has been many postings on this site by me in regards to service and you can do a search, any questions outside the postings i would be happy to help, just let me know on the direct questions that you need to narrow what you need to know so i can help you better.
Hey, all it takes is money in a bad economy......
Hey, no problem with the help by the way, hope it all worked out :?: .
Thanks I will google or if you can email me the procedure and what the codes mean. I don't have the instrument cluster. My gas gauge is still on the cap. But I have the key light. Thanks for the help. Matt (sandrail1@earthlink.net)
I Sent the Info you Needed to Your personal e-mail, Hope it helps :?: .
You do not need the gauge cluster to do the test, it is done with the key light on the dash, give me till tomorrow and will send or post the info needed for the test, it getting too late to set it all up tonight and can do in the morning and will post the codes as well.
I would run the check engine light procedure to see what code it is and go from there, key on and off 3 times and leave the key on at the 3rd and count the blinks, The TPS sensor tells the engine how much fuel to send the engine at any given throttle position, the other thing is if the K&N oil has contaminated the T-map sensor it could cause trouble to, also what can cause your symptoms could be fuel delivery from the pump, a bad pump or plugged fuel filter.
The 2005 to the 2008 have the same check engine light and use the same codes and test procedure, everything you have said sounds like the TPS sensor and should be tested for the proper settings of .640 volts for the 2006 model unless you have upgraded to the SP ECU then it would be .710 volts, remember that the ranger xp runs lean from the factory and noticed that you are not using a fuel controller with the pipe and air cleaner, this would make it run even leaner and is not good on the engine, what does your plugs look like and how many hours are on the ranger :?: , also check the wiring harness to the TPS sensor because there has been reported problems of broken wire in the plugs themselves, polaris has a replacement part for this, let me know if there is anything else you need help on.
Have not seen much troubles with Ranger Xp axles if you keep the horse power down to below 65 horse power and don't drive them like a stolen vehicle in Compton, and use them with common sense, like everything else, things do have a life expectancy, they are built to pull and tug and push snow plow equipment and trailers so they are pretty tuff, when you do break one then it is time to upgrade to gorilla axles, don't just start replacing good equipment before its time :!:, A clutch kit is a must as fare as i am concerned and would go with the Dirty Dawg performance for a primary and complete secondary clutch kit, the ranger xp secondary is not the best they could have done from Polaris, buy the 2009 or 2010 models because they have the twin a-arm front end, 2008 models are about the same as the 2005 models in drive line except stiffer gearing as of 2007, when you do your clutch kit you should match it up to the tire size and the normal altitudes you ride at, as for videos i have no idea but check you tube, there is way to much i could get into and i could write a book on this but when ready we can address this stuff later in the future
.
Call dale at dirty dawg performance and get a clutch kit and the upgraded belt for it, his system is about the best going and really should help, the stock systems even on the RZR-s is still not as good as they should be.
