#631 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » What pipes are you guys/girls running???? » 2009-05-19 09:47:32

I would run the one from dirty dawg or bikeman performance, they have run these machines and worked with them longer then most and are the first with these products with continuad upgrades since then, all the rest are late in the game and only have gotten into it the last few years with polaris 700 and 800 cc engines, I would go with the experience other then tale end charlie on this.

Whats your opinion on Muzzys?

Never used it, there are a lot of new systems coming out from different people now days that have jumped on the band wagon but i personally would stick with the tried and true like i mentioned earlier by people that know the Polaris line from the very beginning, theses people have thousands of hours in working on the whole Polaris engine line in modifications from the bottom up.

Its been a while and i will do some looking around but i seen two kits that used professionally injected molded intake tubes and fit real well to the back of the cages. i was looking for them for someone back during the 2007 RZR air filter problems issues.

New Member needs your feed back
In process of possibily buying a new 09 RZR - Opinions needed. With the Polaris updates on the 09 RZR airbox now in place, is a snorkle kit needed for the dirt/dust entering the intake track issues, and if so, which one would be recommended? Does anyone have pictures of systems, specifically how the system attaches to the airbox/clutch box etc. Any other suggestions/recommended mods/issues to be aware of, now is the time to be made aware of them. please let me know. The machine will be used mainly for trail riding in nothern Michigan, occasionly some sand dune action, by me (6') and my 13 year old son(5'). Generally looking for the pros and cons of the machine from people who own one-who better to ask!! ANY feedback will be greatly appreciated!!
THANKS !!

I would do it because it helps pull air from a much cleaner and cooler area. I am just not sure by looking at the kits at www.bayousnorkels.com because there kits from what i see look like parts from the pluming department at your local home depot  roll, I have seen much more professional locking kits elsewhere  big_smile . sorry to have to say that rzrefi09.

#634 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Polaris Ranger XP 2005 Cooling Question » 2009-05-18 10:41:07

That is normal, the fan always comes on and off and the seats aways get warm and some people add extra insulation to the seat, the 2005 rangers also ran leaner then the others and that is due to the ECU that year, when I upgraded to the sportsman ecu it helped it a lot due to the richer fuel curve, one last thing if you can get the front end up around a 45 degree angle and loosen the cap sometimes the air needs to be purged out of the cooling system that is trapped in the engine.

#635 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » Bikeman Performance????? » 2009-05-14 22:29:27

I am glade it all worked for you and bikeman did you well. I am sure the power is well above what you had before and with a little fine tuning can get a little better, as for the A/F it might be a tad rich side but remember you need to run in different temps and altitudes and different humidity's to be sure, I would like to see it around 13 to 13.5 at full power but you are very close now.

Lets put it this way, I run 90% of the time in 2 wheel but I have 15+ more horse power and can push it harder and that helps me  a lot to stay out of 4X4 mode. UTVs are heavier then ATVs buy some 600+ lbs and if you get in the sand stuff you will need the 4 wheel drive. On steep hill climes where the power to weight ratio is in favor of a quad with two wheel drive you will need 4 wheel drive on a UTV for the same stuff. on basic ATV trails you should be OK but i always end up using the all wheel drive switch at some point on any ride because i get adventuress  big_smile .

#639 Re: The X Spot » Prowler, Ranger, Teryx - I'm confused! » 2009-05-09 22:24:03

For your needs, a ranger XP hands down for more then two passengers, the others are not set up for more then two and the ranger XP is by fare more stable then the others period, just look at all the legal stuff going on with the rhinos and i have driven them and believe it is true from what i have seen, it is just a fact, never had a problem keeping up to somewhat modified rhinos and i have never put mine on its side or roof like they have, would you trust a family member in the back of a UTV rated at less then 500 lbs capacity or would you rather have them in the back of a UTV rated at 1000 lbs capacity, it is your choice :!:   big_smile .

#640 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Front Sway Bar » 2009-05-09 09:51:53

Well for my two cents worth, two months ago the sway bar broke on my XP that has been known to be a big problem from 2005 to about the 2007 model years and have ran without it since then, it made a major improvement in the low speed articulation over rocks and big ruts but the high speed handling was effected horribly, I will be reinstalling the new updated sway bar because of this issue and will be looking into a disconnect system like titan is showing as for an upgrade, it will take some fabrication work to make the part.

#641 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » exhaust help » 2009-05-03 21:54:29

The more the flow the Lauder it is, at least in the ATV world at this point, look into dirty dawg performance or bikeman performance, they tend to work the best with less noise but still will not be as quite as the stock system.

#642 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » 07 ranger fuel problems » 2009-04-27 21:50:36

Fuel pressure is o.k. and yes the pump should buzz when the key is on, not sure what you are saying about the tps sensor since there is not enough info from what you are explaneing, need more info on what the full problem is, may be a bad key switch or power box?.

#643 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » dual exhaust on stock rzr » 2009-03-21 17:04:47

if you do the cdi. full muzzy exhaust. duners kit. and take the spacer out of the primary clutch you should beet a stock one by about 6-7 lengths. thats the study i read.

I would have to agree.

#644 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » dual exhaust on stock rzr » 2009-03-17 23:31:02

I want to put dual exhaust on my stock 08 rzr, but I dont want to do the fuel controller. It has plenty of power for what I do. Is there a brand that is better for running stock?

The problem is you can not change stuff without needing to offset other things, it is just not that simple, the more air you move through the engine the more fuel you will need to maintain a proper air fuel ratio, the RZR runs rich at low end but at mid to top end you need more fuel and a better fuel curve to get what the pipe or exhaust needs, if you are happy with the power it has, leave it alone otherwise expect to go the full mile on any changes  :!:  :!:, there is no half way point  .

Sorry for the late reply and yes i do jawbone most of the time along with the ranch that our friend has, we also go to El Mirage and dove springs, Jawbone was our best spot but now days we get a lot of new people there now that leave there trash behind and doing other things that will ruin it at some point, it is really a shame that people can not pack out what they bring and leave the sites as clean as before they came, it really pisses me off from what i seen with the graffiti paint now i have seen there, at this point i am looking to get out of California do to everything that is going on here with the taxes and the government, even Arnold has turn coated on his promises that he got into office with.
