How about something in November - after your "Cushy Cruise" Ryan  lol
Jared - do you think Bambi will be dead by then?  tongue
Smokem - who is Bagley?  :?   smile

Will it be too cold in November?

yeah.....WHO is Bagley:)  took a ride up to the Gorge yesterday to get somethings out of the boat.  couldn't believe the hunters/toyhaulers on I-84.  saw quite a few s x s's along with the atv's.   you kid's figure it when you can go now.  this old "fa-bart" will just sandbagg it now.

hey....

what about the followin` week?   October 22nd to the 26th?  It would be a shame for Bagley to miss it....  If the date was bumped ahead, maybe Sardawg could make it too:)

#33 Re: Goin' Riding... Who's with Me? » Moab in November....now » 2008-09-28 17:27:26

Hey there...

Far as i'm concerned, ii' totally opened to bein` flexible for an october ride in Moab.   Far as i'm concerned.....you could bump it ahead to later in the month.  In Nov. and Dec. i have a week in each that i'm travelin to to London/Paris and to the Carribean.   Can't go without Bagley but you can go without me:)

#34 Re: Goin' Riding... Who's with Me? » Moab in November....now » 2008-09-26 09:02:44

Hope you Moderator's don't mind me putting this up as a new topic.  But if somebody tumbles thru your cyber door lookin for this particular thread....it will be easier to find.  BTW....it's a "go" for me.  Since we're trailerin` to the trail heads and i'm unfamiar as to their locations, is there a place that could be used for a meeting point?  I'm guessing that your trails are south of Moab?  You don't need to worry about waiting for me because in all liklihood, i will be at the meeting point well before the designated time:) big_smile

#35 Re: Goin' Riding... Who's with Me? » Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah » 2008-09-25 09:05:21

You're right.........the more the merrier!  And i'm up to it!!!  (will check with the Mrs first to ensure she has nothing else planned) Where do you generally go/stay?   I'd probably get there on a Thursday afternoon.   Will mention it to my neighbor who recently purchased a Rhino.   He's new to riding and maybe he'd like to drive on something other then the street:)   So we're lookin from the 16th to the 19th of October?

Another question....in regards to where you folks generally stay and the trails you run.  i know at Archview, one can ride out from camp.   If that's where you're staying, i would be taking the motor home and trailer.  If you generally trailer the UTV's to the trailheads, then i'd drive the Ex and trailer and be renting a room or cabin.

another thing (if you want more ppl) you might consider is giving a "heads up" in the Utility off Road forum or the prc forum about this mayhem.  there`s  a few in each that would probably like to ride as well.

BTW.....sardawg.   i'm retired and i know of another couple in the same shoes.   We're scattered by distance but with time on our hands.  It would be nice to have a round up of old strays and do a ride sometime.   While these kids are workin, we can be playing:)

Hey there....

Been followin` this thread for a spell....but have actually been waiting for the M word to appear.   This old fart would love to tag along on another Moab adventure.  The Mrs. isn't "into it" so to speak, so i'd be ridin`alone.   Gonna sqeeze in a few Saturday rides in LS before Santa arrives too.  Unfortunately, this weekend is shot to hell.  Gotta keep her happy......don'tch-yuh-know(!)

Still lookin/waiting for the dealer/anybody to come up with a solution to getting a legal and visible lighting solution to make my Ranger XP street legal.

But anyways, if you can put up with this old drinker/smoker/hellraiser...........i'd like to join you on the trails.

That's really a sharp lookin`ride!  Like how you beefed up the roll cage and those seats sure look inviting!

hey there....
dunno if it's the same guy or not, but i've seen a red sandrail that will pull a wheelie "for most of the way" up Sand Mountain.  They're certainly fun to watch!   Thanks for postin` the vid`s.

#40 Re: Ranger and RZR Parts and Accessories » Glass windshield » 2008-07-09 07:20:19

i'have a Rangerware windshield on my XP.   it cost considerably less then Polaris's Lock & Ride plus they have windshield wiper capability (add-on).  it lifts/extends so that you can ride with it fully open.   it can get a bit warm here in desert country and i've considered takin` it off just for the summer months.  but.....since it's soon going to be "street legal" (Oct. 1) i will leave it on.   sometimes there's a glare when riding into the sun which now makes me wonder if i shouldn't put sun-visors and window tint across the top.....

btw....Polaris will push you to purchase their own products but they're the ones that have/sell Rangerware.

well.....it was an impressive show he put on!!!  if i'd had a few more cold beers, i would probably have stuck around for awhile.   hafftuh agree with you on the snowcones too!   i had a blueberry which did wonders on my lips:)   was surprised to see a "venders row" the last trip down there.   am also considering removing my windshield until fall `n winter.  would rather eat bugs and enjoy the breeze over and beyond a heated cab.  the rider's at Little Sahara start young.....   saw a little guy riding his own trail bike and i don't think he's even made it to kindergarden yet!

#42 Re: Goin' Riding... Who's with Me? » UTAH? THIS WEEKEND? » 2008-06-15 11:28:41

so......it was a great time.   Got a little surprise though while playing in the back forty....   My friend managed to get hung up on a steep dune crest.   While we were digging it out, two pretty married gals came along on their quads and stopped to help.   i have a winch (useless in the dunes) and a highlift jack with me all times.  But  the gals helping Brian pushing on the front got it out.   It just struck me as being somewhat unique to have two gals womanhandle the ranger out of a dune.  Brian nor i could do it alone.   "Kudo's" to the women riders!  Also rode for 3-4 hours in the Black Mountains.   One trail we couldn't climb because the sand was too sandy on a VERY steep ridge.  i hate climbing with only a sky in view!

A super-fast sandrail (?) was climbing Sand Mountain........."doing a wheelie" 90% of the time/distance.  This ol` man couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing!  i think nearly 90% of the campers/riders were watching him too!!!   It's an amazing place to meet some really great people!  While taking a water/wizz break along a trail, two dirt bike riders stopped to make sure we were okay.

one of these days, i'm gonna meet some of you........in Sahara or elsewhere for some riding fun.   i figure i could/would drive to Price or Green River for a day's ride.  but now that this married man has had a day of fun.....he's gotta pay his dues (yardwork) to earn another one.

happy trails.....Bud

headed for Little Sahara this Saturday for the day.  hopin` to arrive by 10:30 at the latest.   i'm bringing along a new friend with the hopes that he likes it enough to eventually consider buying his own utv.  i will take him down to watch the action on Sand mountain for awhile.....then will probably try to find someplace to park on the northern end.   can anybody suggest a parking area or camping area closest to the Black Mountain trails and the dunes?  if you're down there, give me a shout.  my cell# 801-309-8968.

happy trails.....Bud

#44 Re: The X Spot » Introduce Yourself! » 2008-06-03 07:03:39

Welcome Bud! Sorry you didn't make the rally... hope you are feeling better now. I have been here since 93' and and decided I would act like I own the place (Utah) lol  and feel like I fit rite in now  wink Watch the "Going Riding - Who's with me ?" thread - hook up with us for a ride  8)

will keep an eye on that thread, for sure!  in the 1st rally, we did the White Wash Sand Dunes too.   it's a great place!   i don't mind makin` 2-3 hour hauls (one way) if i'm gonna get several hours of riding in.

as for the light kits/turn signals......i can wait on those too.   the service department at the local dealer is trying to come up with some sort of lighting package.  they said the lights weren't a problem but locating the gizmo that would go on the steering columns was giving them a challenge.  i'm a mechanical klutz so i'm at the mercy of finding/PAYING someone to do it.   really don't want to drive to AZ to do it, either.   i think i met Vic last year(?)   if it's the same guy.....he had the coolest lights i've ever seen on a utv.   he could light up airport runways.....

hey there....

like others, discovered this site from the UTV Rally website.   been here (Utah) now for five years but have accepted the fact that i will always be "newcomer" to Utahan's.  never had an atv or did any serious off roading until last year.  i'm old and not the sharpest knife in the drawer.....but love riding/playing.  drove down to ittle Sahara on Saturday and now my truck has the annual pass sticker on the windshield.   anyways.....figured i'd say my hello's and how-do's.   took a few pics down there and will give you a link to them.   last year, i did the first UTV Rally and it was also my very first REAL riding.   Metal Masher was a challenge but i'd do it again inna heart beat.  Looking at Acad's (Chris) pics, made me really wish i could have gone this year too.   so.....now i will become a lurker for a spell.  thanks to those posted where i might finf a light/signal kit.   can't wait to register the XP!
