GET THIS CRAP OFF HERE!  :!:  These ads are ridiculous. I can't imagine how difficult it is to police them all as a moderator, but can't you give us a simple button to report a bogus post?

It is very hard to keep up with these spammers because they like to run around like tagging crews and they don't use static IPs. They always use different user names and can not be blocked. We have defences set up that catches about 50% but some slip through. It would be easier if there was a way to delete the user that post the spam and then give an option to remove all his post while deleting the user, but that option was never built in to phpBB who makes this software. We have to remove each spam post one by one as well as each user.

I was gone the last 11 days and mark was going to watch over the forum, If spam is posted, I asked many times in the past for members on this forum to send a PM to either mark or me if the site has been hit with spam but that never seems to happen. As for a delete button to other people post? That cant really happen because that would also allow people to delete normal none spam postings as well.....

#34 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Polaris Ranger, RZR, Prowler for plowing or other option » 2011-12-19 21:13:48

The RZR is not a work horse but a sport machine roll . It is like trying to use a corvette to haul lumber  . You would do better doing it with the 500 or the 700 or the 800 rangers due to box capacity and towing capacity.......

does anyone have any idea whats going on with my side by side? kind of new to the hobby but need to be back on the trail. would appreciate any help or ideas and where i could get the part possibly. thanks

Ranger Xps are not full time AWD and even in AWD mode, they will only use the front drive wheels when the the system senses slippage in traction. This all happens in microseconds and when the system sees no new tire spin it will unlock the front axle.....

Somewhere on this site? I wrote up a detail explanation on how it works......

#36 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » 03 ranger 500 new fuel pump still shutting off help! » 2011-11-16 20:13:28

Something that you have not mentioned is if the ranger runs or starts at all?. Some fuel pumps will only run when the key is on and the engine is running?  When the key is on and the engine is not running the pump will pressurize and shut off. I would do a bleed test after the pump to see if it comes back on when the key is on and engine is off to see if the pump turns on during this test. I will have to look into it but it could be a PCM issue if the 2003 500 has a PCM module? I am not sure at this time since I have not looked into the electrical on this model to see how it is set up... I mainly deal with EFI models.....

Finished installing rear-view mirror and battery minder on the Ranger. I think we're ready for the winter cold and snow now, but it would be nice if the 66" Sno-glide plow blade would arrive before the first big snow!  lol I've been told it shipped yesterday, so maybe by next week.

Waiting for pictures when the big snow comes wink ...

#41 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » Can a Rhino 700 Run with the best of em » 2011-11-02 16:24:05

Don't get a RZR unless you want to spend 50% of your time working on it because they break something every other time they go out it seems.

This is a completely inaccurate statement roll  lol ......

#42 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » Can a Rhino 700 Run with the best of em » 2011-11-02 16:18:09

Yama450yfz,
based on your user name I'm going to assume you're a Yamaha fan.  I am as well, I've owned three YFZ 450s, and more other Yamaha's than any other brand of motorsport toy.  I've owned two Rhino's.

But I'm going to give you a straight answer, and not just try to help you look at the world with rose colored glasses, so that everything looks rosey.  If you want a bad ass SxS that will run with the best of them, I would not start with a Rhino.  I would consider a Rhino to be a first generation UTV.  The Teryx, Rzr 800, and Commader are second generation UTVs.  The XP 900 and perhaps the new Wildcat are third generation UTVs.  Each generation is markedly better than the prior generation, and by the time you get that much improvement with each generation, comparing a first generation UTV to a third generation UTV is, well, no comparison at all.  The latest generation of SxS are exponentially better than the first generation SxS.  I spent $15K in mods on my last Rhino, and it was seriously trick, with a long travel Elka suspension, aftermarket cage, intake mods, piston, cam, exhaust mods, you name it.  My XP 900 works better and has far more performance right off the show room floor.

You can buy a Rhino if you want, and you can spend a lot of money modding it, but why not start with a SxS that is much much better right from the start?

The above is the best answer to the original Posters question for a Sport UTV wink  big_smile . I do think there should be different categories now  for UTVs which really wasn't needed around 2001 till 2006 and then came the Rzr. Ranger Xps and Rhinos were true UTVs because they were built to work and to play for a living. You will not see many RZRs or Wildcats pulling trailers or pushing plows  . They are a offshoot from the true UTV family and should really be called SUTV or Sport Utility Vehicle. Now days it is unfair to compare them all in the same category because they all do a different type of job.

Looks like Ranger and Ghost have given you good advice. The only word I might take exception to depends entirely on how you plan to use the machine. I live and ride in a forested area, and there are is one trail I've been down in my 500 EFI that the wider 700 and 800s can't go down. It's less than 6 inches difference, but if you deal with narrow trails that is an advantage. Of course, my machine seats 2, not 3, but in my case that is what I need, so no loss. The bigger rigs also have 2 more inches ground clearance than mine, 12" vs. 10", though I've yet to high-center mine. Finally, there is probably a couple of grand $$$ difference in price - which I promptly spent on cab, heater and plow! The box on the 500 is rated at 500# and will handle every bit of it with ease, and towing is good at 1250#, but neither equals the 800, of course. Happy hunting, whatever you decide on!

Ron

I just make the trails bigger with mine so in the future all rides will be equal lol  lol  wink .....
