There is a difference between $350.00 and $60.00.... I am willing to support your race and plan on attending at this point.
If the entry fee was $350.00 I would not attend without a payout so it good its only 60.
Oh and by the way you asked for our input so we gave it to ya! :twisted:
A small payout is a simple thing that WILL attract more racers to ANY race.

First I want to say that's awesome your going to be their!!
Next I need to say this isn't my race. I just am trying to spread the word so others show up is all.
Also like I said in the first post if you have any input please post it on the borracing.org forum so the people who need to see it will.
I also just want to say the people who own and work for BOR are not in it for the money. If you think about all the time and money that goes into planing a large race like this its crazy. BLM permits, race insurance, course setup, course cleanup, Paying and ambulance to be their during the race. the fuel and time spent to go to race site to plan and meet with BLM. The list could go on and on. And the fact is desert racing really isn't the best spectator sport due to the fact its not short course and that makes sponsors hard to come by. Even for the UTV's say we get 10 people to show up and race at $60 that's $600 from that one class. My guess would be its somewhere around $200/hr for an ambulance so at 2.5hrs that only leaves $300 to cover race insurance BLM permits for the track and course markers and setup. So now if the where to say double the entry fee and do a payback for 2nd and 3rd that would leave a small purse of $360 to the first place winner. Now 70% of the Racers have to foot the bill for the others. Its the same for the big boys but longer race faster toys = more money.
So doing the math would tell me their plan is to have lower entry fees to get more people out their racing. And as BOR grows with more people showing up it will be much easier to find the money for a payout.
I will be racing my Teryx. Stock motor and stock suspension. I'm not going to be the fast one out their. In fact my first goal is to finish the race second goal is to finish in the top 50%.
From the sounds of who will show up their should be enough to have a "stock" and a "modified" class for the UTV's. This sounds great to me. Take that stock machine I bought to have fun with and have fun with it.
I also would like to say I own a tube bender welder and other basic fab tools. If your local and would like some help getting your UTV setup to be safer for this race I would be happy to help with in reason. (Dont show up and ask me to build a full cage for free.)

I see your XR650 has a go fast kit next year they will be including bikes. And your in luck a double shot of ego is free with every sign up fee!

On another note you may not need a starting gate to compete but its kinda funny that the starting gate is where the competition generally shows up. We all think we are fast till the fast guy shows up.
I grew up playing sports like BMX, Ice Hockey, baceball we all had to pay to signup and their sure wasn't a payout for first place just trophys. We never did it for the money we did it because it was fun. If riding around the dunes is fun (and I think it is) but racing is not don't race. Does USRA have payouts for its races? No. besides winning a 70 mile race in a UTV is nothing more then a lucky day so only showing up to race and take the prize money might just be a waste of money. You migt have better luck playing the black jack table in wendover with your $60.
Just my thoughts.

If I was racing I would want something in return as well, if not, meet me at the dunes or the trail head. I don't need a starting gate to compete.
Some people play like me and some want to go fast to win and invest in their machines accordingly. You have to win something if your going to break things too.
If you need to get paid to race then you need to go pro. And the only way that happens it to know the right people or start at the bottom and work your way up. But that's cool if the $60 fee is just that steep to race a UTV with out a payout for first prize Don't show up. Post up a pic of your SxS and Im sure Ill run into you at the dunes some time and we can race just for fun. That's why I want to race wendover for fun not the money. From sand mountain to white sands over to the ranger station and back to the mountain is 17miles we can run that 4 or 5 times Its a fun run. Will you be their over labor day weekend? Im not 100% yet we we are going to try to make it. I would love to see how fast I am on that run compared to other drivers.

they did talk about having a shorter track for the UTV's and charging less...

If $350 seems steep go see what it costs to race score or BITD. They need around 30 people to race just to break even. The $60 for the ATV/UTV has a lot to do with its only a 2.5 hour race. As far as payouts go as BOR grows and they can get some sponsors payout will happen Im sure. But the fact you act like just because you race your going to win and take the prize seems a little cocky. But if you want to come race the UTV class I would be happy to place a bet to cover you entry fee if you can beat me. As long as you will cover mine if I beat you. Im more then happy to race for trophy.s

UTV race: Minimal safety because you are not running with big vehicles. you must have at minimum stock safety equipment. It is strongly recommended that you have a fuel safe type fuel cell and upgrade your seat belts. This is for a stock class only. mods that help you go faster will require additional safety equipment. If we have enough UTVs that have mods (3 or more) we will have a stock and modified class. Fee is the same as ATV $60. I just went around the course today and it will be awesome. We are up in the mountains quite a bit and we are also down in the valleys that have seen a lot of use, but we think it will be a great loop for the UTV and ATV crowd. You can tech at the race.NOTE: No one is REQUIRED to tech on the 29th, we are doing this in hopes of educating the racers for what they need when they do show up. you can tech at the race if you want to. Please come out and join us as this is a first for our organization and we want to judge the response so we can plan this group into our series for next year. More info to follow...I am tired. AG

Bonneville Off-road Racing (B.O.R.) Is back and wants to include UTV racing for their race September 19th in Wendover Nevada.
They want your input and feedback to see what type of turn out they can get and what type of race course you would be interesed in running.
This is a post made by the new owner on the B.O.R. forum.
"We are working on a UTV stock class. details will be finaized (for now) in the next week or so. Minimal safety modifications IF we can get a seperate course for you guys. PLEASE PLEASE let us know if you want to race and how long of a loop you would like. right now we are thinking 10-15 loops - entrys would have to be lower for this group --OK g\uys give us suggestions. it would be coll to have 30 to 40 of these STOCK machines out racing."
If your interested at all check in on their forum www.boreracing.org and let them know. If people dont show up then I dont think they will try this again.

Im in!! I know their would be a big turn out if people only know about it. Rhinoforums.net teryxforums.net rzrforums.net place some adds on KLS un the UTV and sandrail sections. I only found this post by a goolge search for UTV race utah. Let people know they dont need long travel and 10 grand of other stuff in their UTV to race and people will be their Im sure of it.
Lets make it happen. Ill help any way I can
