Garmin gps are really good and dependable brand, I myself have one and all i can say its really worth the money.
Honestly tuning carb engine are easier compared to efi because of all electronic stuff and sensors but still they are the best.
It might need some piston ring job. have a compression test.
You can also try ebay and some online shops.
Id agree with you there are build with torque not for speed.
