#421 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » NE one snap a belt yet? » 2009-09-24 15:57:24

The kit from dirty dawg is supposed to make a major night and day difference and eliminate most of or all the problems you are talking about. They are the most expensive but said to be worth every penny. I did a few on a some friends Razors and Rangers about a year or so ago and they were very impressed with them. Mine has the one from EpI and it made mine allot better and I now put more power to the ground and it was really noticeable in the sand washes and i don't smell the belt as nearly much anymore when pulling the trailer like the one you see on my post and i pull it loaded up hills and down hills loaded like you see it. I am going to talk to Dale over there at Dirty Dawg if the money starts flowing again and still do the upgrade because his kit is supposed to be twice as good as the one I am Running now from EPI. I always said that this should always be the first modification on a Polaris because the factory stock setup has its major issues. You should call him up and do one before your moab trip but make sure you give him all your information so he can tune it in for you and your uses  .

I carry a spare belt and tools also. Have not changed my RZR S belt yet (500 miles). Just changed the Rhino belt at 1400/miles. New belt was 1/8 wider, works great. I hear that Polaris are harder on belts.

They are harder on them when running the stock clutching but if you get a good kit it fixes allot of the stock setups shortcomings. I have not done a rhino belt but when i talked to my friend that has one and asked him why he did not carry an extra belt he told me that it is almost impossible to do in the field and was real hard to get to. Is that true from your experience...

could someone give me engine codes for a 2008 ranger 700 xp crew. Are they 2 or three digit codes? I checked a while back and  i know the first digit was a 6.Don't remember if it was 6-2 or 6-1-1. I'll have to check again to make sure.

Here are the codes for a 2008 Ranger.

Just curious, has anyone snapped a drive belt in their RZR yet? whether it be bone stock or modded. Wondering how much abuse these can take. Also a bit concerned since I ride in very remote areas often 50-75 miles into the Maine wilderness. If this thing breaks I'd kinda be screwed as there is no cell service or human being for miles. I always tell someone where I am going but often i don't really know either, just love to explore.

I changed my first belt at 150 hrs and keep it as a spare in the storage box. I made up a kit that composes of a can of tire sealer and a small 12v pump and a plug kit for the tires and with that kit i included the tools to change the belt if needed. On the Polaris XP i can do a belt in under 15 minutes in the garage and out in no mans land it would take me less then a half hour. I never broke a belt but i have heard of belts breaking due to running them past there service life and or clutch alignment issues. They can handle lots of HP and are rather tuff.

I personally do not know arctic cat but maybe someone will post an answer for you. There may be some gun shy people here not willing to help you  because of all the problems with the lawyers and the Yamaha rhinos  :x . That has really been blown out of proportion roll . All i can say is lets see what happens and maybe someone will post for you  big_smile . And good luck with your investigation....

XTZ Owners,

I am investigating a 2009 XTZ 1000 H2 fire loss.  The fire originated at the back of the vehicle near the parking brake.  The owner stated that the parking brake light would not illuminate unless the brake lever was clicked up 3 notches.  Pulling the brake lever up 1 or 2 notches would not illuminate the light.  Do any XTZ owners have similar issues?  How many notches "clicks" do you have to pull the brake lever before the indicator light comes on??  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

#429 Re: The X Spot » Smoothest riding SidexSide?? Rhino or Razor?? » 2009-09-19 16:23:31

My dirt bike riding buddy is wanting a sidebyside.  He has a Kaw Mule now, but says it rides to ruff.  So he is ready to sell it and purchase either a Rhino or a Razor.  Which would be smoother riding??  In rocks, ruts and stuff??  Not at high speed, but just poking along???

For poking around i would go with the 2010 Ranger XP because it is the smoothest riding out of all of them. Next would be the RZR-s then the rhino and then the standard RZR in that order. The 2010 Ranger XP with the Limiter spacer removed is as fast or faster on top end as the 2008 to 2009 standard RZR and way faster then the rhino in stock form.

#431 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » aviation intercoms anyone use one » 2009-09-18 22:50:44

I could build this using cheap radios for me but i do not see a need for it my self at this point :!: , To do it for someone else for only one production unit It would be allot cheaper to buy the $600 set already made for this purpose. For $600 dollars i think that is a good deal to listen to your IPOD and push a button at the same time and talk to someone else. There is some sophisticated electronics involved to make all this happen and that is why it ain't cheap  .

What exactly are your trying to achieve? Some more details would be helpful. There's a lot of creative minds on this forum.

I seen this one the other day and thought the same thing :?: . Why not just buy a set of motorola's that have VOX built into them and a good Headset  .

This guy at Snowy Mountain Wintersports http://www.sidexsideforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1589 who posted on this site had posted 50% off on Polaris parts but after several E-mails I sent to him for a quote he never sent a reply back so i am not sure how reliable he is at this point. I think the order will be going to babbits instead.

I have always had good luck with Babbits. One of the few paerts places I can get stuff for my 300EX online.

Ya, I always try to give new people a chance and I always end up back at babbitts. I did finally here back from Snowy Mountain Wintersports after 2 days and there E-mail said they do not have the parts in stock and try back some other time roll . Well that tells me that they only give the discounts on there limited stock and that don't work for me. As for now they will not be recommended by me because of the 2 days of waiting for an answer and the reply that they sent me  roll
