The Ranger XP900 is the ultimate rig! Not even in the same catergory as the EV to me. I only didn't mention it because it wasn't on your list of "considering" in your first post and it's the most expensive, but for a good reason.

If I were to use a SxS for what you describe I would get the Ranger 800HD. I see they don't make that model any more though. I don't know why, it was awesome, load leveling rear shocks were a nice option. So I guess just the full size 800. I don't care for the midsize much, they still have the strut front suspension and aren't quite as heavy duty in my opinion (full size has dual a-arms with coil over shocks). I have heard of problems with the EV also. Not that the gas engine will never have a problem but parts and support seem more readily available for the gas engines.

Yes they are a dual stage foam. And same here no change in performance just trying to keep the dirt out.

We ride in the desert where we live west of Phoenix and make 4 or 5 trips a year to the Imperial sand dunes west of Yuma.

I've never been but Moab is on my list along with St. Anthony dunes in Idaho.

This mod was done because I kept finding dirt past my air filter that was getting sucked in around the airbox lid. I tried grease, a Uni filter etc... and it's just a poor design. The plastic lid is just not rigid enough and flexes and leaves gaps where it doesn't squeeze the rubber lip around the filter.

I went with the dual stage Uni filters with an Outerwear. It comes with a

crankcase breather filter in case you want to run with the lid off. I'm going to

keep my lid on but I installed the filter anyway. It was pretty easy to install

the hardest part was getting the stock plastic velocity stacks out of the

airbox, SERIOUSLY! What a PITA! The new billet ones went in great and the

filters clamp on very securely do to the ribbed clamping surface. (Stock plastic velocity stacks vs. new billet ones) I also got Albas' airbox lid seal (a little different than the other guys)

so the lid will still "hopefully" seal with no stock filter in place which wouldn't

matter since no dirt will get by the clamped on filters. A quick test drive

resulted in nothing actually. Obviously no change in power but I thought the

intake noise would be a little louder but it's not.

As the law reads now they WILL be enforced in July but yes that is if they are not changed first which is what they are working/hoping for.

#25 Re: The X Spot » New California Laws!!!!!!!! » 2012-11-07 16:09:09

Update:

Jan,1 2013 - Helmets required, Occupants must be able to reach hand holds while fully/correctly fastened in seat belts or harnesses with their backs against the seat.

July,1st 2013 - No non-factory seat locations

I think I have this correct.

Imperial Sand Dunes Permits that are currently $25/week and $90/year might go up to $40 and $180. Copied this from an email from ASA. Couldn't find it on their website though.

ASA ACTION ALERT : New Permit Fee Proposed for ISDRA
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) presented a draft Business Plan (BP) for the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) on October 18th at the CA Desert District OHV Leadership Meeting. The Business Plan calls for an increase in the weekly permit fee from $25 to $40 when purchased off-site. On-site weekly permits are proposed to be $70. The Annual permit fee is proposed at $180. BLM intends to implement the fee increase on September 1, 2013.

The complete ISDRA BP can be viewed at:
http://blm.gov/4qkd.

The proposed public review and comment period has been limited to less than 3 weeks ending at 8:00 a.m. on November 5th.

Bob Mason, ASA President said, "This short public review period is not reasonable and does not comply with the intent and spirit of the public involvement process called for in the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. ASA has informed BLM, in no uncertain terms, that a minimum of 90 days is required to review the BP and gather comments from ASA members and ISDRA visitors."

BLM has provided the following email address to obtain your comments: BLM_CA_ISDRA_Subgroup@blm.gov. Also please send your comments to the ASA at ngilles@asasand.org. We will consider your comments in the preparation of a response to BLM. The BLM will brief the ISDRA Desert Advisory Council Subgroup at a public meeting on October 24th at 9:00 a.m. at the El Centro Field Office. Please plan to attend and provide your comments directly to the BLM.

You may also provide your input at the Desert Advisory Council meeting being held in El Centro, CA on Saturday, December 1st. For more information on location and times, please visit the DAC website at www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/info/rac/dac.html.

That's funny cause when you watch Polaris' video the RZR wins and when you watch Artic Cats' video it wins haha.
