i always have a nylon tow strap with me too.  it's looking really raggedly right now because i've been winching small boulders up the from the ravine for my neighbor for his rock wall.  thinking about getting a chain....

#17 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Are windshields worth the $$$ » 2008-11-18 12:20:48

i'm running with a heavy glass Rangerwear windshield on my Ranger XP.  the biggest drawback is that it sucks all the dust into the cab.   i'm just a big dust ball after riding.   it's nice to have when it's raining.....or if it's cold.

btw....i also have a plastic roof.   it's nice having shade in the desert sun when stopping for a break.

sure is nice to see this forum grow with new riders.  welcome all!

#19 Re: The X Spot » What tools do you carry? » 2008-11-18 12:07:40

although i'm severely "mechanically challenged" i carry a plastic 28 qt. bin with a locking lid (purchased from the `mart for $28) with enough tools to change my belt.  i'm never riding without my vicegrips, duct tape, beer  (oops, i mean water), and portable air pump at the very least.

Super 8 is busy. It must be the HOT desk clerk. I think "it" should be in the new moab video!

eye candy, eh?   leastways you won't gain weight by that.  lots of that candy here....

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

I don't like seeing it so quiet all day sad .

That's it...I'm going to the sand dunes tomorrow! wink

you playing in Little Sahara?   the place oughta be hoppin` this weekend....   i'm tossin the idea around in my head to go down to play.  the weather will be perfect and there's got to be lots of moisture in the sand now.   our sod is still soggy from the 8 inches of snow that fell last weekend.

#25 Re: The X Spot » Street legal in UTAH... finally? » 2008-10-09 11:15:20

so......

here's another little twist for you.   The street legal issues is causing confusion at DMV and for us as well.   Yesterday, i was at the DMV in Farmington getting my Ranger's title and asked the clerk if they had the plates yet for the atv's.   She said they didn't have them yet.  (Now get this)  She then informed me that i wouldn't be able to get plates because "You can't ride on any street in Davis County."   She said that only those that reside in the villages/towns that allow them to be driven on the streets will be issued them.

Of course i was getting a bit hot under the collar because of her total lack of knowledge.   So i said to her that i wanted to be able to ride it in areas that did allow it on the streets.   Marysville.....for instance or further south in Hurricane.  Anyways, i'm guessing that i will look for another DMV that hopefully is up to speed with the issues in relationship to side x sides being street legal.

as a newcomer, i've had to adjust to a lot of quirks here.   but the idea of only allowing residents to license them where its legal to ride is soooooo anal.....

grrrrrrrrrr

gee....

it was pouring hard here too and the mountains have their winter caps on now.   it makes me wonder that the riders on the tampaxes didn't stop too at least offer a hand.  but maybe that's why......

the other side of that is.....two female quad riders in LS stopped and helped me out.

#28 Re: The X Spot » Street legal in UTAH... finally? » 2008-10-04 15:24:55

hey there...

last week i stopped in at the Polaris dealer in Centerville and they had a RZR that street legal and had plates on it that were issued in southern Utah.  They have the full lighting kit, turn signals, mirrors etc.   It was going to cost me $280 installed.   Here in Davis county, LEO is totally opposed "to dealing with it."  Lazy b _ _ _ _ _ _ 's!  Guess they would rather play with their tazers.....

It's going to take awhile.....

Uh oh...grandpa is coming, so we better take the easier trails. smile

Chris

you'd be a bit surprised to see what riding i do these days.  the first UTV rally, i didn't know a dam thing about these toys.  my sphincter doesn't get so tight as it did then on the easy trails.  i bought a helmet too....and although my fear of heights still remains, as long as i can use a rope/cable hold for safety if there's a 50/50 chance of flipping backwards, i'm good for the ride.   it took a while!!!  you kids had atv's to ride beforehand and although i'm still fairly new to this sport, eventually i will have your skills too.

btw....gonna be in Paris/London from the 6th to the 17th.  you guys go ahead.....go for it!   but gonna take the Ranger down to LS next Saturday for the day.  have to get my $80 worth!

alsoKYLE... thank you for sendin` me a T-shirt!!!   wasn't about to ask for a refund and i sure enjoyed watching all the video's and seeings the pics.  spoke with Gordy Faust on the landline the other day.  thought maybe he was in the doghouse after attending the first UTV Rally and returning home 4 month's later.  what a lucky guy!
