I'm in!

Hey Jared! Can you bring a set of paddles for me to demo? I know you have contacts!  big_smile

I'll let you know how the supercharger works out.
I am keeping the stock muffler, or at least one that is no louder than stock.

Where are you located?
I hear MPI wants to do a second supercharger on a less modified machine, and take a bunch of installation pictures.

The new fuel system includes a high capacity in-tank fuel pump, and converts it from a returnless fuel system to one that returns unused fuel to the tank. It incorporates a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. When no boost is present, the fuel system acts like it did in stock form. (Stock fuel pressure to the injectors) When the FPR detects boost, it raises and lowers fuel pressure as needed to regulate the proper amount of fuel through the injectors. It will also have an electronic fuel controller, for fine tuning.

I just got back from Mountain Performance.
I just found out that the Ranger 800 Supercharger kit will be going into production!

I got a copy of my stock XP 800 (Brutus) dyno graph. The first thing I noticed is how much power this thing puts to the ground in stock form compared to the standard RZR.
Apparently this new engine is pretty strong, and the new drive train is very efficient!
Here is a copy of the Ranger XP 800 dyno graph and a graph for the standard RZR both before & after the Supercharger. All tests were done on the same Dyno.
Compare for yourself…

I got a preview of how the general layout of the system. These components seen are from the RZR supercharger system, and are just set in place to show an idea of how it will lay out.
The elbows will be much different when things start going together on Brutus. The intercooler will have a fan on it just like the RZR system. I also learned that since the Supercharger is so efficient, it doesn’t put nearly as much heat into the air as my Turbocharged RZR does. Less heat in, less heat needs to come out! The intercooler can go just about anywhere, and still work very well. Oh yeah, one other thing. Since there is a fan constantly pulling air through the intercooler, it is always efficient, not just when the vehicle is going above a certain speed.

It appears that everything will be well shielded from mud & debris. I’m guessing that they will have some sort of shield that bolts in place, similar to Brutus that separates the Supercharger from the splatter area around the tire.

More pictures to come! I’m getting REALLY excited about this project, can you tell?

Have you found out how far they cover the rocker? I am curious if the offer any protection to that plastic. I am ready to scrap my sliders, but I want something to protect the plastic (and frame underneath).

“Sliders”?
You mean Hangers!
Oh they’ve got to go!

Over the past few months I have been researching Mountain Performance in Draper Utah.
http://mountainperformance.com
As you can see, they build all kinds of performance power upgrades for Yamaha & Polaris Snow machines & SXSs, as well & SXS upgrades for Arctic Cat & Kawasaki.

I got talking with them a couple of months ago about the possibility of doing a performance tune on the ECM, or possibly a Supercharger for the Brutus project. (2010 Ranger 800xp)
Today I took Brutus over there; Heath looked at it for a couple of minutes and then said, “I want to Supercharge it”.
He then told me that much of the technology for the system is transferable from the RZR Supercharger system that they already make. They are doubling the rear wheel horsepower on the RZR with only 6# of boost. And the throttle response of their RZR is instantaneous! I’ll see if I can find the video that was shot of the race between their RZR at 6# of boost vs My RZR at 9# of boost. I got spanked from the starting line, and it took the entire race to catch up.

Long story short, Brutus is getting blown! MPI has it right now, and it should be ready in about a week. I will keep you all posted with pictures, as well as rear wheel Dyno charts.

Sounds fantastic!
We will dress warm, and it’s going to be a blast, even if it’s a little cool outside.
