Just a friendly reminder for everybody to check your nuts and bolts often. I have found many loose nuts and bolts in random spots on my ride, the vibrations must be much more than we can feel while riding. Especially the bolts on the roll bar, I even put red Lock-Tite on my bolts and still had 3 of then come loose.

Last weekend I went riding and was testing out my Kick Ass air intake in some pretty deep water when I noticed a new problem........Now that my air intake is up higher, the water floods my vents for my tranny. Once I make it across the creek, it took another 100 yards for the slipping to begin. It lasted for about 5 miles and eventually just quit, no weird smells, no smoke, no noises, nothing.  Any ideas?? I was considering extending the intake up to the top of the roll bar and connecting all intakes together.

Actually with the jetting, the 08 comes with a 138 main which they give you with the kit. I didn't know that until I had mine apart, I went ahead and put the new one in just because I was right there but if you buy the kit you should not have to re-jet. I sounds good, it is pretty loud though when you get on it. I had Z-400 with a Pro Circuit pipe and it was much louder than my prowler. I will check out the power gains and let you guys know......stay tuned.  I will also get some pics and post them.

I recently added an exhaust and intake to my Prowler and it ROCKS!! I bought the slip-on exhaust from Black Magic and the "Kick Ass Air Intake" from Black Magic. With the CDI and re-jetting I have this thing running great. The starting issues are gone, it starts right up every time. Sounds great! And I came tell a big difference in the throttle response and power gains. Next mod will be the clutch.

#6 Re: General Arctic Cat Prowler Discussion » Clicking noise » 2008-06-08 20:31:06

That clicking noise is from the rear brake because it is mounted to the driveshaft. If your brakes are wet or really dry you might hear it more often. With the warmer weather I have been hearing it every once in a while. Don't worry its not going to hurt anything its just really annoying!!

#7 Re: General Arctic Cat Prowler Discussion » Windshields » 2008-06-08 20:27:56

I bought one of the Quadgear cheap windshields and it works just fine. It is made of soft plastic, the same stuff Jeep windows are made of, and it is mount quick and easy with velcro. I used it mainly in the cold weather to cut down the wind. I would not recommend buying this if you want a permanent windshield. Heck it only costs $35 so I figured I would try it.

I busted my passenger side about 2 weeks after I bought mine, Babbitts Online have the cheapest I could find.

#9 Re: General Arctic Cat Prowler Discussion » winch for a 07 prowler » 2008-06-08 20:19:14

2008 was the first year they did this. I bought a winch and it came with a universal winch mount bracket included in the price. I also did a little cutting and was able to mount my switch in the center shift mount under the reverse override switch. Works great and I didn't have to buy that expensive Warn kit for the Prowler.

The 700 is new but there will be many mods for it in the future. EFI is easy to upgrade to get more power, Rear mirror only costs about $40. Tilt wheel is a sweet addition. Rear diff thats turn easier sounds like a dealer statement to sell you on the more expensive machine. The only downfall to the XTX is the only color is silver, now I like silver but I also like a little bit of a choice when it comes to spending $10k. It's all you man, what ever you decide the Cat won't let you down. I have not drove a XTX so I really can't give an honest opinion. I know the 650 H1 is a proven great engine.

#11 Re: Prowler Performance Mods » CDI » 2008-05-03 19:56:07

So what brand of CDI do you sell? How do your CDI's compare with Dynatek, speed and power wise.

#12 Re: General Arctic Cat Prowler Discussion » New Prowler » 2008-05-03 19:50:09

First off, what is the difference in price? XTX is the 700 EFI isn't it? If so and if it's not a lot more money I would buy the XTX.

#14 Re: Prowler Performance Mods » CDI » 2008-04-26 10:00:20

Hunterworks.com  for $189 with free shipping. The guy who runs the website does testing on his performance parts, after talking with him I also found out that Dynatek is the only company that makes a CDI for the prowler. So all of the CDI's on Black Magic Racing, Lioncart, etc. are all the same, they just sell theirs for $300-400.

I found out the 08 does have built in winch mount, so you dont need the winch plate.
