#1 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » 05 Rhino parking brake not working » 2012-02-24 00:27:18

I replaced the rear brakes on my 05 Rhino and now the parking brake doesn't work? Before I replaced the pads, the parking brake worked some, just wouldn't hold on a little more than average hill. After replacing the pads there was no tension on the parking brake lever when pulled, I adjusted the bolt with lock nut that is on the back of the brake caliper (almost all the way through the lock nut itself, seemed way too far before it bottomed out), then had to adjust the cable in order to get tension when pulled. I had it jacked up and still could roll the rear wheels with the e-brake engaged. I did screw in the rear caliper (not press in) and the rear brakes work fine.........just not the e-brake. I'm not sure what is supposed to move inside the rear caliper to engage the park brake, but I think that that is the part not working. Sorry this is soooo long...........just wanted to explain what I had done. Any help would be great!!!!   Thanks

Easy... Jack the rear end of the quad up. Loosen the retaining nut from the adjuster. turn the adjuster in a little. Test the parking brake. Tighten the retainer nut. Spin wheels to make sure there is no brake drag. You Are done!
