#1 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Got me the MAMMOTH stereo » 2009-03-03 08:04:52

....and some 14" ITP SS's.  I also picked up a Hot Seat Performance exhaust tip that gave it the perfect sound I was looking for, not too loud but a nice change.  Got all my stuff from sidebysidesports.com.....those guys were pretty cool, I'm in AZ and I got home 2 days after I ordered to find my tires, rims, and stereo waiting for me.

The MAMMOTH is pretty bad ass.  I am 100% satisfied with it.  Yea it's pricy, but the way they sit right behind your head....the sound is amazing.  The setup was a little difficult, especially if you don't know much about installing stereo systems, but I had a buddy help out.  I'm glad I went with the Mammoth instead of some kickpanel's with a deck.  I just plug in my ZUNE and i'm out the door.  My trips are alot longer now....

Yea you need registration, it's like getting a new car.  You have to get tags yearly too.  I bought mine for 2 years.

No not glass, actually today I was gonna go out and buy the half windshield but somebody told me that it sux cuz you still get all the wind/debri in your face....it does reduce the low pressure though that causes the dirt/exhaust in your face.....

so I grabbed my saw and chopped my windshield almost in half....but the bottom half is gone not the top.  So far so good I'll post a pic later I suggest you do the same or you can buy one of these.....

Quick - what is the most common complaint about riding off-road in a side x side vehicle?  I’ll bet you said “the DUST”.  Install a windshield and roof and you actually compound the problem. In frustration, many have chosen to give up the protection of a windshield altogether rather than be plagued by the dust and heat. After extensive trail testing, the CoolFlo Windshield (patent pending) . This unique two-piece design delivers relief from back draft dust while providing superior face and eye protection.  As an added benefit, it also helps by reducing cabin temperature.

How are CoolFlo windshields different from other shields on the market?  To answer this, let’s look at what creates the problem.  An open, roll-caged vehicle lets air flow freely while in motion.  Put a windshield on the vehicle and the flow of air is changed - a low pressure zone is created behind the windshield.  Ever ride in a jeep or convertible car and wonder why your hair blows forward toward the front or windshield?  It is because of this low pressure.  Automakers have addressed the issue by adding spoilers to roof racks and rear windows to create an air curtain.  This works at highway speeds, but the problem still exists at lower trail speeds. It is this low pressure zone that draws the dust into the cab.

By simply removing the lower section of the windshield, air is redirected by special foils downward to the floor and backward into the cab, effectively breaking the low pressure zone and forcing trapped engine heat out of the vehicle. The upper portion of the CoolFlo Windshield stays in place for much needed eye and face protection. What if it’s too cold to ride without a full windshield?  Leave the bottom part on and take it off later if you need to.  Others have tried to fix the dust and heat problem by making half or three-quarter windshields. This only reduces the low-pressure zone; it does not break it.  And half windshields do not provide adequate eye protection.  So, with a half windshield you have no upper protection, only slightly less dust and the cool air is blown over your head without providing any relief.

CoolFlo Windshields, made of mar-resistant polycarbonate, provide excellent face and eye protection and relieves the dust and heat for a comfortable ride. They are easy to install, and the lower section can be removed and replaced on the fly

I got mine street legal here in Arizona along with my Raptor.  It's easy as hell here.  I ride mine all over even on the highway to get to the river.  Here in AZ you need a mirror, horn, and the Polaris license bracket that has a light shining on the plate.  Oh yea plus insurance and registration like a real vehicle.

The Polaris dealer I got mine at hooked it up with the Motor Vehicle Division for me.  I paid like 200 bucks and they registered it and sent me the plates in the mail, never had to go to the MVD.  Then I called my insurance and added it.  Booya.

Pretty stock so far, just added the brushguard, sportroof and headache net.  Gonna get some flashy rims and a stereo system, and put on those graphics I ordered.  Other than that I'm coo.....

I ended up climbing that little hill.  Man I can't believe how bad ass the 4x4 system on this thing is.

I got the full windshield for my RZR recently.....don't do it.  The good thing is that I was riding full speed and I never had to flinch, didn't feel the need for glasses, the cold wind wasn't in my face.

The bad thing is that I was covered in dirt from head to toe, EVERTHING inside the RZR including the dash panel was covered in dirt, and me and my friend were high and dizzy because of the exhause fumes.  Guess it creates some kinda krayzie wind vortex or some shit and you get nothing but dirt and exhaust in your cab.

Is that why they make a half one?  I might have to pick one up now.

Anyone have or heard of this?  It sounds like a rubbing sound when I accelerate over 10 mph.  It does it in L and H, AWD or not, even in neutral.  My buddy says it sounds like the speedometer cable.  I didn't buy the extended warranty but it still should be covered right? It's only 3 months old.
