Topic: rhino exhaust--which one
So whats the low down on exhaust? has any body done a shoot out for different exhaust systems single or dual. I have heard that single after market exhaust are not worth putting on unless you just want it to sound better, with not much hp gain. looks like every one is going to a dual system. but they go for around 700-1000 thats a pretty heavy investment, for something you pretty much know nothing about. everyone says mine is the best. looney tunes, two bros, lrd, and so on. so well ,lets get this out in the open. which works and which does'nt. I dont want to go crazy -exhaust, cdi,airfiter-intake, is about it. :?:
www.rotax.net a single exhaust, less money, guaranteed gains, trusted name for making quality stuff.
If you end up going with woods (rotax) on your exhaust let me know and I can hook you up with a sidexside forum member discount. We run Ron Woods stuff on all our duner and drag quads and I have one on the way for my Rhino. Top notch products!
you won't be dissapointed either, now if you want your rhino to haul the mail, get his intake and carb. My rhino beats guys with 686 kits and it's stock except for his kit.
yeah, well i heard his exhaust is very loud. and since i drive this around the neigbor hood it cant bo to loud. when we go camping its ok. i live within 30min from woods shop. not looking to gain to much from the exhaust anyway.
You can buy it with a supertrapp, not as quiet as stock, but alot less than without. Go buy and talk to ron, you'll be convinced after talking to him.
Here is a pic and a bit of info on the woods pipe.High performance exhaust is designed and built in-house, utilizing a true reverse cone megaphone that increases power throughout the entire rev range, excelling in midrange and top end horsepower, with a polished Cermichrome finish for good looks and durability. Supertrapp spark arrestor available on request with no loss of horsepower in testing.
And here is the carb kit max powers is talking about. The FreeFlow carburetor kit consists of a specially modified and jetted Mikuni TM45 flat slide smooth bore carburetor, using the factory choke cable, a new throttle cable, plus the latest K&N XStream filter with built in velocity stack
cant go wrong with a woods
Can someone tell me how many dB the Woods pipe makes? It needs to be less than, or equal to, a maximum of 99 dB in order for me to race the WORCS races. It does not need a spark arrestor for WORCS, but will need one for USRA races. Thanks.3TV
without the supertrapp, it is louder than 99db, I'm sure.I have a trapp on backorder and won't know the difference till it gets here.
Someone said I could get a discount on a woods exhaust for being a side by side member. Can someone hook me up? I have an 07 rhino 660 and looking for more snap. I need to throw a little mud when I hit the gas. May need a clutch kit also?
I am running a trinity clutch sheave, a dynatec cdi ,a yoshimura dual exhaust, and a dynajet. I have huge bottomend and great top speed. I am not saying this is the only way to go but it worked for me ..
I ended up going with the Yoshimura RS-5 slip on exhaust, and porting the stock header. The Rhino runs fantastic, seems to definitely have more get up and go, and isn't too excessively loud (it passes the 96 dB sound test). And it only cost $300, instead of a months pay like some of the dual systems do.3TV
http://www.blackrhinoperformance.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=PER450145this is what the best of the best are useing. Weller racing had them on both there rhino's at the CORR race's last weekand everybody I know swear's by it.Also it's the quitest one you can get at only 96DB.
I have had great results with the NMOTION yamaha pipe. It is a True Dual exhuast, carbon fiber and they are seeing about a 4-5 HP gain with just the pipe. It is offered for the 04-07 and also the 08, my 07 is getting about 59 MPH with just pipe, cdi, and clutch sheave.Contact NMOTION YAMAHA at316-683-3900Or if live in the vicinity of Wichita, KS stop by at 11414 E. I am not saying this is the only way to go but it worked for me ..Are you running the Dyna-Jet kit or just jets??? I was looking into the kit for ease of jetting, but someone said they had trouble with the kit in rough riding.

The Yoshimura RS-5 slip on needs repacked at this point, and noise levels are about double what they were to begin with. That is something to think about when purchasing a new exhaust, ... how often maintenance repacking is going to be needed. The FMF powerline exhaust does not need repacking, so that would be a good choice if you feel like spending $800 on an exhaust. I just ordered the Gibson exhaust system, which includes a complete stainless steel header and stainless steel single silencer that uses mechanical baffles instead of packing. It cost half as much ($400), and never needs repacking. It is also supposed to be within 3 dB of stock sound levels. I should have it ready to install this weekend.3TV
Exhausted at studying exhausts! :? which one is going to give me the least grief in the long run, low noise and some possible performance gain? My stock is cracked at the head of the muffler.
Ryan, make sure and check out the Alba kit. This is one I was considering because I read somewhere it was very close to stock quiet... you will need to verify that.http://store.albaaction.com/shop/RHINO-PIPEKIT.html
I just wonder about the gain for a pipe that is 400 more than a slip on or stock replacement. :?
Ron Woods pipe or Alba? I like both systems but never used spring clip design. Is there any fear of having the springs break under vibration from the rhino vs a atv? Who has the best known hp gain on all there exhaust applications?
I think when comes to exhaust you get what you pay for, I have a set of dragon fire duals on one of my rhinos {very loud} and on the other I have a set of two brothers {not as loud} both gave me huge gains the dragon fire comes with quite cores and a super trap caps makes it not as loud. The two brothers come with sparkies in them and you also can order quite cores for them for like 50bucks, my brother also runs the two bro on his 700 and realy likes them. I think if you want big power gains you need to get the duals and let that engine breath.Josh
I went with the Gibson setup off EBay. I have been pleased with it and was more worried about the noise. The repacking issue kept me away from those that compared more to atv/mx exhausts.
